Yeah I’m not losing sleep about having another top 15 pick in a draft comparable to 2003 and 2015.
Ottawa and Detroit blew their wads and will be sitting in the same spot as Buffalo come year end.
Look at the division we play in. - Pegullaville
Best post of the day yesterday:
By the end of the weekend they could be in last place.
Of course, with 1 point separating 2nd from 8th, could they also be in 2nd?

Maybe one day you'll contribute more than taking pot shots against several posters, including our blogger.
I don't have high hopes for that. - kingcong39

They are well deserved Nancy - IonSabres
Well let's HOPE it works. I am old and would like to atleast see some playoffs. Not another Top 10 pick for 10 more yrs. Sabres have pieces to make themselves better without hurting there future and we ALL know that, you can only build for so long until there is NO TRUST in what you are doing. |

I think it’s pretty obvious from the get go that the plan was to get Quinn and Peterka as many minutes as they could so that they can make a meaningful contribution next year.
Improve, but improve just enough that you still have lotto odds for Bedard/Fantilli/Michkov.
The biggest hole on this team is 1C, win the lotto and problem solved - Pegullaville
Actually I agree with you about the 1C problem.
Cozens max potential is a 2C.
Tage as of right now, is a 1 year wonder.
They really do need an elite center.

He’s 23 years old. He was fine here last year.
If this year is “all about development” and “seeing what we have”
Why isn’t he in the NHL in a backup role at least? - sbroads24
had to bring back anderson for the vibes

I get it Buff, I do. I want the same.
I see the progress, albeit slow...and I believe that the upcoming off season will be time for more focused, impactful moves.
I'm already ready to move Joker, Mitts and Olo, p,us Krebs unless he starts to show some substantial growth. I am hoping that the Coaching staff is in tune with where the young guys are in their development curve...and maybe pointing out how Hino's style maximizes his efficacy such that Quinn and Krebs can be more aggressive.
My word cou t is up, I must cut off here. |

Then they signed Comrie and the LilBushKid, while committing to graduating their top 2 prospects and welcoming their 1st-OA from a year ago.
But, we have to ignore those moves because it doesn't fit the Debbie Downer narrative.
It's a development year for several players. Development curves are not equal. Some fans, apparently the minority understand the uneven development process. But as genius as other fans think they are in absolutely knowing best, I'll take a guy who has proven he knows what he is doing, by having developed players for ~30 years.
But, go on Debbie, your Nancy sister's love it. - IonSabres
Good post, but I gotta go with thatguy's experience vs. Donnie. Thatguys clearly smarter when it comes to developing nhl talent. Sorry uncle ion .
Granato served as head coach of the Green Bay Gamblers and Wisconsin Capitols of the United States Hockey League (USHL) from 1993 to 1997, where he led the Gamblers to the league finals.[2] He was then hired by the Columbus Chill of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) in 1997 and then Peoria Rivermen in 1999. He won the Kelly Cup as a coach in 2000 with the Peoria Rivermen and was then promoted to head coach of the Worcester IceCats of the American Hockey League (AHL).[1] During the 2000–01 AHL season, Granato won the Louis A. R. Pieri Memorial Award as the most outstanding coach of the AHL.[2] After five seasons with the IceCats, he was promoted to an assistant coach with their National Hockey League (NHL) affiliate, the St. Louis Blues. In 2008, he became head coach of the Chicago Wolves of the AHL but was released in 2009 after seven games.[2][1]
From 2013 to 2016, he was head coach of the USA Hockey National Team Development Program. In March 2016, Granato assumed an assistant coaching position under his brother, Tony, with the Wisconsin Badgers men's ice hockey team.[3] On June 15, 2017, he became an assistant coach, along with Ulf Samuelsson, under Joel Quenneville of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks.[4]
In 2019, he was hired as an assistant coach of the Buffalo Sabres.[5] On March 17, 2021, Granato became the interim head coach of the Buffalo Sabres, replacing the fired Ralph Krueger.[6][7] Granato posted a 9–16–3 record in 28 games with the Sabres to finish off the 2020–21 season head coach. The interim tag was removed on 2021 June 29 for the 2021–22 season Sabres head coach.[8]

I am surprised this board hasn't exploded with Tage hate. The soon to be $7m man is producing more like a $700k player...without Tuch driving play. |

This really shouldn't suprise anyone who actually watches the games. Asplund is soft and an analytics darling.

Ethan F Bear is the difference between watching playoff hockey or another missed opportunity?
It's just a 5th 😥
Surely bear would have just fit into our system, with ease |

when the bills lost jackson and benford at cb
they didn't punt the position, they went out and signed a 3 time pro bowl db, xavier rhodes
it has not worked out yet, as he got hurt, but they tried
that's what winning teams do, take chances
sabres lose 2 RD for an extended period of time and it's next man up, kale clague
just punt the next 10 games, no need to try to get good this season |

Not just winning teams, no...Superbowl favorites.
So they lost 2 starting players and turned over the reigns to 2 rookies, then when two more got hurt they made a move.
Guess we wait for 2 more D to get hurt and they are rated as SC favorites if the correlation where to stand. |

The Bill's vs the Sabres comparisons are ridiculous.
1 team is favored to win the superbowl, the other is in a 12 year draught.
What a joke |

I’m just trying to figure out what catch phrase we can coin this year. We relied on “at least it’s not Ralph hockey” for awhile. I think that’s run it’s course though. - ImThatGuy I think it can be called, "at least we resigned tage and samuelsson"
