so what are the odds the sabres pull it off and raise a cup in 10 years

2 percent?

Idk, but I feel comfortable saying this is the best the pipeline has looked in terms of depth since the early 2000’s.

Low bar, but the Sabres have some talent coming no doubt.

Salary cap flexibility doesn’t disappear if they don’t use it this year btw.
- Pegullaville

So next year they will sit on 20m instead of 19m

If Tim Murray drafted well outside of the obvious Eichel and Reinhart, both would still be here and we’d be a perennial powerhouse.

The tank would be praised instead of hated.

Drafting well is actually extremely difficult, and most teams suck at it.

Nonetheless

You can draft well and have it turn out poorly. You can draft poorly and have it turn out well.

Did KA draft well? No clue, but the lack of D is a big issue atm.

if you assume dahlin, samuelsson, power and johnson is your top 4 for 10 years, it is a non issues when your plan is to wait until 2025 to compete though

I mean they handed out big money to Tage and Samuelsson. I’d be shocked if they didn’t extend Dahlin next offseason, whom won’t come cheap, and both Cozens/Asplund are RFA’s.

They will only be a cap floor team this season

I wasn’t even including Dahlin (Norris caliber d-man) or Cozens (probably our best forward this year so far)

Power, Quinn, Peterka, Savoie, Ostlund, Kulich, Poltapov, Rosen, Kisakov, Kozak, Nadeau, Bloom, Richard, Huglen.

That’s a pretty good group. Even if half of them bust that’s still too many bodies

Think it looks like cap floor next year too. If Dahlin extends, it wouldn't kick in until the following year.

If they go long term on Cozens and Asplund, might look a little different. Hope they do.

Yes and even with Tage and Samuelsson they could still do another 9m Avv contract and still be under or barely touching the floor next year even if they counted Dahlin next year. The Sabres salary cap should not even be worried about for 4yrs, and by that time it should be 93-95m by then.

If you were trying to win hockey games:

The following players should not be part of the rotation out: Thompson, Cozens, Tuch, Asplund, Skinner, Peterka (though he could get into it)

Should be rarely rotated out: Hinostroza, Quinn, Girgensons, Krebs

Should be the main rotation out: Mittelstadt, Olofsson, Okposo"

- Lunaion

I’d beg to differ on Skinner and Asplund. They have both been terrible.
Krebs might be prime trade bait at this point.

If you bridge Cozens and fill out the roster, I think you're just under the floor.

I would hope they have cooled on an Okposo extension, but you never know.

They fill out top 6. Need 2 complimenting.
Dahlin/Samuelsson
Power/Trade for solid experienced D
Johnson/Trade for solid D

There's so much they can do if there smart and not even hurt themselves. Well as long as that player keeps developing.

Okposo needs to make his way to the front office. He would add great value there. Same with Anderson. Rostering Okposo at this point is irresponsible.
Asplund needs to go. We need to eat salary and rid our selves of Skinner. Mitts continues to be a failed experiment. Krebs is not a center and we have plenty of depth in our system at center. He can’t play wing, so easy decision there. Olofsson is a PP specialist. We are struggling on the PP, yet he does not play on the first unit over skinner or Mitts. Trade him

Could have used a 5th on one yesterday that might have had a chance to fill one of those rolls. But we don't need that.

That's the catch. Focus is all on development, but how are they actually doing on that? Still an unknown.

Guess that's the world of the day. I still like isolationist. They don't function like a normal NHL organization.

Think that could be at the top to. Very confusing. I haven't even come on here the last 3 games. I am really close to shutting it down with the Sabres. Absolutely No Trust

God Damn it!! I like Granato and I like Adams and his little nerd crew he has assembled. Building up the pipeline was and is a must. But show me some life here, you can only horde so many prospects and hope to be able to evaluate them. And your having a hard time handling 3 right now. What happens next year when that number jumps to 5 or 6. If you are trying to develop than develop and let the kids live through there growing pains.

Agree on this take. Waiting and hoping every young player and prospect in our system will pan out and make up a playoff contender in 2-3 years is not something the fans can handle. Pick a core and let’s use the rest to fill out this roster
