What in his three years as GM makes you think he's capable of pulling the trigger on a good trade? The only decent one he's made so far is the Eichel one, and that was essentially with a gun to his head.
- buffalofan19

You're kidding, right? He could have panicked and given into the pressure from the fans (and the media) and made a terrible trade. I've got no reason think that he is the next Yzerman, but there is also no reason to think that he is the next Chiarelli. Jury is out. I like what he has done but don't disagree that we need to see more eventually

Okposo should be shutdown/pk role limited. That's his worth.

You play goal scorers on the PP.

- DirtyDan

While this a true statement, it's also an indicator of how thin this roster is up front. When Kyle Okposo, especially at this stage of his career, is even a consideration, let alone on the ice when you're down 1 and need a goal with 3 minutes left or less, you're still not a good team.

a 5th round for a position of need. You pull that trigger ALLL damn day. It doesn't matter if the players turns out to be something or not.

We arent going to be looking back in 5 years saying "we really could of used that 5th"

The guy did score 20 last year. We aren't talking about Ville Leino.

I don't think he's either Yzerman or Chiarelli. I think he's an underqualified yes man that is well schooled in media speak.

Has the coach and management not said we need to play these young players in positions to succeed.... Quinn 4th line... Krebs 4th line.... Neither have played much PP time and you have Old Man Kyle standing out front waiting to bang in his first of the season

Coaching decisions have been laughable to say the least.

Again, who is complaining about the compensation? These narratives are so tiring. They said they are out looking for a D (nobody expects to lose two D in a week) and the season is 7 games old. I think the bigger concern is that there aren't enough swords to swallow around here.

Well, congratulations on being able to step over a bar that isn't even six inches off the ground!

The guy scored 20 because he got way more ice time than he should have because the roster he's on is sub par, and there were no expectations whatsoever.

I like some of the things he’s done.

I also think his and Granatos extensions are two of the most ridiculous contracts in professional sports history.

Yep just keep trowing half a D corps of AHL d-men out there... don't try improving... we will get to the dance in another 11 years.... hopefully

Right. I am not saying that the cost was prohibitive. I am saying that this is what the league thinks of him. A team that is right up against the cap was willing to retain salary to get his salary off of their books (never mind that he couldn't crack the lineup).
- Slump Buster

The league thought Risto was worth a first +++ so….

I see, it was a soft 20. Now that you mention it, I think the goalie was pulled for half of the PP goals.

I don't love him out there either. Again, the biggest problems we've had are mistakes. It isn't like we are getting trucked every night. We are 7 games in. A week ago we were tickled pink.

That's on ownership more than it is on either one of those two, though. That standard just isn't that high.

Well, no, they didn't. A single GM thought that. That's quite the opposite of 30 GMs passing on Bear.

All the more proof that there aren't any qualifications to being a GM other than someone gave you the job.

It’s almost like people are tired of getting false hope time and time again and when they see teams making a move that would improve the roster they question why can’t Buffalo do these moves?

There were several Offers of a first round pick for Risto IIRC

*start year looking like a top team in the league*

*make fanbase hopeful*

*lose to 2 of the worst teams in the league*

*crush all hope by November*

*Draft top 10*

Repeat next season.

Oh I know, but if they weren’t offered this type of job security Adams might actually feel obligated to put a good product on the ice

By that logic every team should feel inadequate every time another team makes a move. There are teams with a D core worse than ours that didn't bite on the bad defenseman that was moved.

No other team than us and Vancouver had an reason to make a trade this early... no reason we didn't get Bear.

Inexcusable.

Yes, there were. So we know there is more than one terrible GM in the league. That still isn't the same as 30 GMs passing on the other bad defenseman.

Yes, so lets just start throwing crap against the wall under the guise that *something* got done.
