Also I remember when Cody Hodgaon was traded here the report was other GMs were pissed because they were not given a chance to beat that offer of Kassian.

If you believe Lance L they are not going to move any assets for a piece they are going to acquire a guy + a piece for a team to get out of cap issue or roster issue.

The issue isn't so much that they didn't trade for Ethan Bear. There will be plenty more "buy low" opportunities that will come around throughout the season. The problem is that the Sabres have done nothing to indicate that they have any interest in that. They are taking a team that doesn't have much more potential than to be a perennial Wild Card team if everything goes right in a few years and saying "this is who we're going to war with".

I am only interested in winning championships. If that means not as many wins as I could have had if I tried to swap out a third of my roster with warm bodies, fine. You can hang the "wins don't matter" banner on me. I am fine with that.

Bear might be marginally better than Fitz, or he might not be. He isn't getting me closer to a championship. He might be a marginal upgrade for a week or two until Joker is back. Either way, giant yawn.

Imagine what a 40 goal winger could be doing for this team right now. Though we might not have Hinistroza or VO playing awful top 6 minutes, because that’s a Joy to watch.
