Injuries are always going to happen, but we are way past the point of that. Look at the number of long term, serious injuries that destroyed the past 3 seasons. Its hard to believe these are simply happenstance...if so they are the most unlucky team ever. Is it the training staff, team doctors, or facilities? |

I mean, why did Atkinson go back to Ohio to get checked out. Doesn't he trust the docs in Philly? Coots has surgery at Penn and then goes to Dallas to get his follow up surgery? Where are the docs in this area learning their chosen profession?

Phils seem like a destiny team and really getting clutch hitting. The Astros are a dangerous team though. - MJL
Yes. They are still the heavy favourite but wow. Every time I think they’ll fall back to earth they don’t. |

Didn’t Michael Douglas say he got throat cancer from going down on Catherine Zeta?
On another note, Torts on Frost: “ "Frosty hasn't done enough to earn his ice time, so yea that's where it is." - black_francis
Right, and that's a direct contradiction -- as far as off-puck play goes -- to what assistant coach Thompson said on Flyers Daily a couple days ago.
Which is it:
A) Thompson on Tuesday: "He's been good in D-zone compete. For example, did a very good job checking Hertl the other night in a tough matchup." (Not verbatim quote, but close).
OR
B) Torts: "He needs to be better off the puck."
Which one is it? It can't be a mixed message. |

How do they know how he plays, he gets so little TOI and he typically centers the waiver line |

Part of Thompson's quote was also that Frost has become a good defensive player. So which coach is BS'ing? Frost has done what the coaching staff has asked going back to last year. Tortorella said that he liked how players including Frost stepped up in the 3rd and played after Hayes and Konecny were benched. Then next game, Frost gets a little over 5 minutes of ES ice time, with most of it played with McEwen and Sedlak. Yet, he's supposed to do something to earn more ice time. It's nonsense. |

Tortorella has been living off that 2004 Cup run for nearly 20 years. He’s ridiculously overrated and woefully out of touch with the modern player and how to best play the NHL level game in 2022. He got by for most of his career because he got bailed out by world class goaltending. When Hart eventually cools to even a .910-.915 sv% level of play, this team will get destroyed on a nightly basis.
Also, if the 2004 Flyers hadn’t been slammed with injuries on D, Torts doesn’t even get his team to the final. |

What makes you think either one of them are able to judge his play correctly?
Trusting anything the Flyers management says to the media is not something I’m willing to do. Believing anyone in the Flyers organization can accurately assess a players ability and play is not something I’m willing to do.
Sean Couturier going outside of the Flyers medical system to resolve his back issue through surgery gives me hope.
Removing the Flyers front office, coaches, medical staff, scouting and player development staffs is the only thing that can be done to get me to start watching and following this garbage franchise again.
Go every Philly team but the Flyers! |

Torts quote, hmmm, think he sees Frost as this type of player?
He cares about results, resiliency and being willing to pay the price to win. |

No crap buddy, any coach would be in the same boat. Tons of former players always credit Torts as the best coach they’ve had or transformed their game. You think he’s had nothing to do with teams he goes having good goaltending? Not saying he made Lindqvuist or Lou but his style of play has won in the NHL. Those Rangers teams were never the most skilled but always a tough out. |

Lot of former players have great things to say about Hak, AV, Gordon, Barber, Murray, etc too. All coaches have players they connect with, and a bunch of others that they failed to help.
Torts has guys who thrived under him but he also has guys that he absolutely buried in the doghouse. And he's misused a lot of skill players like Gaborik, Yandle, Richards and the Sedins over the years.
And I have no idea how anybody could watch how the Panthers had a green light all over the Flyers zone and can still give Torts any credit for how Hart has played thusfar. |

The Flyers were so battered on defense they had to play Sami Kapanen back on "D". Even with that the Flyers took them to 7 games and lost game seven 2-1. Another coulda shoulda woulda year that the Flyguys could have brought home the Cup.

And every coach has those as well. Torts obviously has a much bigger dog house than others haha but he’s a good coach. To say otherwise is nonsense. |

It’s not like Hart shut them out and the Flyers rode one fluky goal to a win. They managed to score 4 goals with this sharty lineup. Might need to give the guy some credit. |
