The idea is to try to get something or multiple somethings that help the future. Kakko and Blais ain't it for one. A late 1st for Kane? Screw it. Let him walk after the season if that is the best offer they get. It adds up to nothing either way in the end.

Blais is a plug. An overpaid one at that. Kakko is meh. A late 1st even in a strong draft may be an a NHL'er but the percentages show it won't be an impact type player.

I’d take a 1st and Othmann from the Rangers for Kane, only if #88 can’t be re-signed. Keeping Kane long-term is the preferred option.

Rangers would only trade otthman if kane signs an extension. So cuylle chytil Robertson Dallas 1st in 2023 and 2024 2nd. For Kane 50% retained 2024 3rd and Entwistle.

I think it will be lower than rangers 1st. Plus imo there will be other teams besides the rangers wanting Kane's services. Calgary Colorado Carolina islanders Toronto Edmonton L.A. Dallas or hawks could resign him and Kane chase Hawk's records.
