Was never boring winning but had to play perfect D to win those games the last few years. |

Love the structure Trotz brought but have to wonder what could have been with a little more offensive freedom those cup runs. Coulda woulda shoulda but who knows. - streaks
The last run and game 7 was extra painful. Win and you have the Habs and very likely Cup #5. Barry just did not do enough coaching during those Tampa series and was too locked in and stubborn. We saw the same when the Isles were swept by the Canes. It's still early but Lane is willing to try things including sitting vets. |

Trotz has a lot to do with what this team is right now. |

Gotta think they would have won 3 cups without Trotz. |

Well they didn’t win any so you’re probably on to something. |

You can change the "VOICE" a thousand times. The Voice does not put the puck in the net.
Apparently my point of view has been proven incorrect with this small sample of work. I am happy to be incorrect in this case. |

The biggest thing moving forward is beating the teams you are suppose to beat, beat the teams you need to beat and be competitive with the elite. |

3 posts and a short handed goal... I think Trotz put them in a perfect spot to win. |

Putting Leo on the 1st line was not putting the team in the best spot to win. Same as not putting Palms with Barzal when they had success the few times they were on the ice together during the playoffs. Barry is a wonderful coach but he was very stubborn with his system and his lineup's. Both the Preds and the Isles really struggled on offense under Barry. Numbers do not lie. It's still very early but so far Lane has a better feel of the teams in terms of the style of play needed. Lane obviously saw the issues the team had on offense. |

Barry himself said that lane was ready to take over and you have to think he was dissecting the moves Barry made. They are so much more fun to watch cause they are actually playing a modern nhl system. Toronto is the team that needs trotz as they are pond occkey and need structure |

Barry can really do a lot of good for that Leafs team and especially if he is more flexible with the offensive system. Players will buy in and not burn out as fast.

They put Leo on that line b/c until they did that line was giving up tons of goals. It was basically putting a 3rd D-man on the ice. |

I think Barry is hoping he ends up back behind bench or in the front office in Nashville. His family is most comfortable there and he already moved back to the area.

I am truly enjoying all the people who continually say the Islanders don't develop prospects are now angry we did not draft our AHL coach's son. I watched Brent very often work with Tage and Charlie McAvoy at Iceworks when they were younger all summer.
Tage was drafted 26th in 2016 by St. Louis who then traded him... It has taken him a long time and a lot of work to finally get his game to this level. For people to think the Isles are morons for missing him is hysterical. |

He said coaching an original six team "intrigues him" but the sentence before that he said
When asked if he would consider coaching a Canadian team where the pressure and media attention is far greater than in the US, he was quoted as saying “I don’t know if any coach that takes a job in Canada ever wants to deal with it.” |

Have to think a line of Barzal Palms and Eberle would not have been a train wreck defensively and their offense could have really helped the team. We can say Barry was a great coach and at the same time say his offensive style was lacking. Lane is coach now so I hopefully everything works out.

I wish Barry and his family very well. I'm not going to lie and say I hope we wins a Cup with another team. It would be very interesting if Barry chances is style at all if he coaches again? I would think he would want to try his hand at management at this point?

I don’t think coaching is the problem with the Leafs. They were simply built wrong. What’s more of a head scratcher is how Shanahan made a career by playing a specific style of hockey yet is allowing his team to be constructed solely on advanced stats. Hockey isn’t baseball. There’s a physical element that can’t be measured by just advanced stats.
It’s also wild that they didn’t draft a single d man last year with such a weakness on that backend. |
