Will it? that's your opinion and I disagree.
I think it'll be Mete out and Lil in - Santo_44
There’s no way a team that just had a dominate win will mix up its forwards or top 4 D
Not to mention Sandin was on his opposite side and defensively is pretty damn weak there. |

Sheldon Keefe says he thinks Pontus Holmberg has “a future in this league.”

I think the having a natural C helped the 3rd line. Jarny and Kerfoot are decent fill in options but it was nice having a guy who can win face-offs and give and go up the ice. |

Yeah I agree with this as well.
Mete is a stop gap. |

Brodie, Rielly and Holl with over 21 minutes and Mete with 13 even. Numbering the pairings aren’t that big. Mete played well. I’m not sure why Lil on the right side will bump Sandin out of a LD spot. - Canada Cup
Mete didn’t get much due to the massive amounts of penalties and power plays, he would have had more ice time with less needed of the special teams |

[quote=Dozzer]There’s no way a team that just had a dominate win will mix up its forwards or top 4 D
Mete is not one of the leafs top 4 d, he just played next to Rielly...which in the past has been one of the lesser D when its not been Brodie. |

So why not just put Sandin onto his good side? If they do that do you keep Lilli out to keep Mete in? That’s two mistakes IMP |

This exactly.
There isnt really any flow to these pairings right now.
Rielly is the rover pairing
Holl is on the pairing that gets tough mins
Gio is mixed in with tough mins as well but limits mins
The rest are thrown in to make the above guys work. |

Mete didn’t play his first game on the top pairing. He had to earn it.
I’m still guessing it’s Sandin that gets sat. - Dozzer
How in the hell did Mete 'earn it'. Has he even played a handful of games? He just came off of being healthy scratch for a rookie. If that's the path to earning it... That's a low bar.
Perhaps Liljegren goes with Rielly, perhaps he goes with Gio, but this top pair shutdown pair stuff is still hogwash. The lineup card the other night had Rielly and Sandin as pair two, so if that's the fabled "shutdown pair" that seems to make it possible to determine everything beforehand in absolutes, apparently its all on the table. |

Mete with 13 minutes. Too lazy to read back and see who the combatants were but that is closer to 10 than 20. |

I.HATE.HOLL. - underhill14
Lol he’s really not that bad, at his age he’s worth a couple million on a short term deal, leaf fans just aren’t used to fairly paid guys anymore… since they’re basically highly paid or a cheap deal when it comes to the guys on their roster.
Don’t get me wrong, don’t sign him again next year unless it’s for practically minimum now that he’s entered his 30s. |

Because the only place on the left available is the spot on the shutdown pairing and he’s simply not strong enough when it comes to that role. |

Doesn’t matter. They didn’t force him to play in his off side all these games just to sit him when it’s time to play on his proper side in order to play someone not as good. |

The top 4 played extremely well tonight so why bust them up? Not to mention he got a point as well. |

Top 4?
Mete was not in the top 4
Mete was dead last out of the 6 in even strength mins tonight, Sandin played a whole 2.5 mins more than him even strength. Played almost 5 more mins than him in all situations.
Mete was not in the top 4. He was the D that Keefe trusted the least tonight. You are getting carried away with what name is next to Rielly in the pre game tweets for who's in the lineup. |

Who gives a flying %%^$# cause guess what Keefe will do what he wants when Lilly gets back so instead of arguing over the whole damn thing ad nauseum why dont we all just wait and see what he does. Not like his lineups arent juggled all over the damn place anyways.

That’s because the leafs had a ton of PP and PK time which meant Mete’s partner, Rielly, wasn’t hitting the ice five on five as much since he was routinely being used on the PP and PK. It’s why Mete didn’t get a load of time.
Just did the math as well, for even strength Rielly was only on the ice for 13:41 |

Irrelevent
Out of the available 5v5 time, Mete was dead last by a mile.
