They’re trying to be a puck moving team who doesn’t sit back in a defensive mode so he might be a good fit - Dozzer
Well that's certainly an optimistic take on Victor Mete, man who couldn't stay on the Sens or Habs defensive corps.
I mean... even puck moving teams sometimes don't have the puck.

they are who they are defensively but they have not been who they are offensively.
Leafs are expected to win 6-4, not lose 4-2. - Symba007
This. This is why I have been so baffled by the leafs moves the past two years. Instead of really leaning into the things they're great at they've made moves that sacrifice some of it to try and shore up their weaknesses.
The team isn't going to be good at a balanced approach. Stop trying to make that team. Just go full glass cannon and outgun your opponents. |

I feel like it's natural to try and improve on your weaknesses.
But with a team so heavily invested at forward... I guess what you're saying makes sense.

I’ll be absolutely shocked if Liljegren isn’t just on the bottom pairing with Giordano tbh, especially in his first game of the year. - Dozzer
I'd agree with you there. It would be a panic move to play him on the top pair in his first game or even anywhere in his first few games.
The problem right now in my opinion, and it could be a part of the systemic problem, is that Keefe seems like he, himself, is in a bit of a tailspin. He can't leave a line together long enough to develop any chemistry. Whether it's up front or on the blueline - guys are constantly shifting around. Knowing your linemates is one thing. Knowing your partner and wingers and centres habits, placement, patterns, etc., while they themselves don't even know it? It's nearly impossible. If he'd set a pattern from Game 1 and just them them play these 10 games through it, they'd have a similar record, and be better off for it, I think. |

He’s more reliable than Sandin is atm and the leafs don’t have any other options.
Need that shutdown pairing to do its job the most as well, hence pairing up Brodie with Holl, so Holl can go back to being the secondary guy on the pairing. |

Other than that second line this team just isn’t showing up at the games worth a damn… hence the lineup juggling. I get what you’re saying but I also understand why he’s trying to get things stirred up.
I am genuinely curious if he’ll flip Marner and Nylander again tho… that alone might be enough to get both of the top lines rolling since both JT and Nylander have been playing well. |

It's fine to make some fringe moves to try and shore them up but if you're a team that can blow the doors off an opponent at will, then lean into being that.
It's like a FromSoft build. If you're set up to wield one type of weapon, you're going to be better served making that weapon as strong as it can possibly be rather than wasting time and resources trying to strengthen stuff you aren't good at anyway. |

Keefe has been juggling lines since day one! There HAS to be some advantage in keeping the lines consistent and not constantly juggling!!

As much as I hate to say it the leafs have to come out of the gate hard or I’m willing to bet they’ll lose… and then have to play Boston with next to no confidence Saturday… this could be one hell of an ugly week |

Maybe the problem in Montreal and Ottawa was the fans didn’t support him.
That won’t be a problem here in Toronto.

if they can't handle the Flyers on the second night of a back-to-back this thing has gone off the rails big time.

Line 1: struggling but the same except for 1 game
Line 2: been playing strong but still have to find a winger who isn’t a defensive issue (and yes so far Kerfoot has been the best one that way)
Line 3 and 4: new guys, trying to figure out who works together because there’s no way to know nor gamble on because they haven’t been good enough to earn the right to stick together. I wish they’d bring Kampf back up to C the third line tho, get him and Engvall playing together again…. At least start there. |

The flyers have been the better team so far, they’re 5-2-2 while the leafs are 4-4-2
Not to mention the leafs should have won the game Sunday the second of their back to back but they blew the lead in the 3rd.
I want it to change but you can’t bank on the leafs yet at all. |

The solid ones are quarter notes, 4 in each bar, the open ones are half notes, 2 in each bar
This explanation earned the leafs the win right? RIGHT? |

He’s on the top pairing so try closer to 20mins - Dozzer
I mentioned earlier that I don’t think Keefe just keeps rolling out these 3 pairings. My guess is that Brodie gets double shifted a lot and Rielly-Mete are used primarily in safe situations and Rielly-Brodie or something else gets used. So in that sense I don’t believe Rielly-Mete is a true top pairing |

I don’t think you’re right. Brodie is now their primary shutdown guy so they’re not going to burn out a 32 year old to give him offensive time.
Primary offensive: Rielly Mete
Secondary offensive: Giordano Sandin
Primary defensive: Brodie Holl
Brodie has enough on his plate. |

The flyers underlying numbers are even worse than the Leafs' and the talent gap is large.
One thing they have is Torts and a commitment to collapsing to the front of the net and creating chaos in the O zone. Super aggressive PK too.
Regardless of record the Leafs ARE the stronger team. They just aren't playing like it.

Chicks love the melody which lives in the top set of notes - where the singer and guitar and higher notes of the piano hang out.
Dozzer plays the bottom stuff. It’s the engine that drives the music. |
