Interesting side note... Florida isn't off to much of a start and currently sits 18th in the league. A lot of change over on the roster since last season and there defense looks razor thin. I think there's actually a slight chance they miss the playoffs this year because of that ( depending on Ekblad). Be nice to have two first round picks in the top 16 this year.
I'm starting to like Dach more as the season progresses. He doesn't play the way his size would suggest, but he's got great vision and can feed the puck, and is getting better around the net. We may not have the center we thought we had ( time will tell), but he is a good player. |

that would be an epic fail for Florida if they actually missed the playoffs... their struggles definitely aren't because Tkachuk isn't trying, the guy has 17 pts in 12 games so far lol. I figure they'll eventually get out of this early-season funk, but I sure won't complain if they don't, as you mention it would just make things more interesting for the habs at the draft
meanwhile other teams are currently having unexpected success, like the Devils that have a 9-3 record, wtf.

I really doubt that as well, but one can only hope. who knows, perhaps Florida man has a few tricks up his sleeve, he's capable of the most spectacular fails...

Or they can choose to keep Monahan... there are options out there, not too worried.
Just want a really fast and young top 6.

pretty sure habs management traded for him because the team has an obvious need down the middle.. if Dach becomes a decent centerman then you can rely less on the draft for that particular position, and maybe grab a goalie, winger, or whoever is the best player available.

Not likely, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. Like I said, check out that defense 😬.
Guhle is now 3rd on the team in TOI, and tied for 5th on the team in points. Has anyone seen a list of rookie stats this year? His play most put him near the best.
On the other side, I just now realized Gallagher has 3 points in 12 games. Love the guy, but once the trio of Hoffman, Drouin and Dandanov are gone, he will likely be that contract we all hate. |

If they did draft a top young center, then I'd bet they'd at least seriously look at keeping Monahan. Give who ever the kid is time to grow into the role. |

meh, Gally is one of my favorite habs ever, so I'm obviously biased, but considering how he's been giving his 100% to the team one game after another for so many years, I think people could cut him some slack. besides, the season is still young, I'm sure he'll finish the year with a decent production.
I say this but I know that people looooove to whine, and they will, so whatever lol. |

Bratt has been on fire
Maybe they are turning a corner after a few seasons of sucking. They drafted high a few times in the last few years. |

yeah they have a few interesting pieces, but I didn't think they'd start winning just yet. then again perhaps they've just been playing above expectations and reality will slowly set in as the season progresses. |

Slaf will eventually become one.

They sure made that trade to get a center, yes. It was a gamble all along, but that's the gamble they were taking. Not drafting Wright and making that trade.
Of course they could draft one next draft, but they might have to go BPA once again. |

this should always be the strategy imho, taking a less-talented guy because you're trying to address a need rarely makes any sense.

losing Lehner was a good thing, amélioration par soustraction. Eichel is also healthy, one of the best in the league, solid defense core. |

for some reason I was kind of hoping Eichel and his ugly face fail miserably in Vegas lol, but yeah he's a good hockey player.
