Barron was doing good before his injury, this year he was really struggling even in the AHL but since he 2 goals game, he seems to be more poised. Time will tell in his case. Mailloux has a lot of tools, I just don't know how he will develop on the next level. Off the ice, he seems like he learned his lesson but it's too early to tell...

I heard Mailloux is a mess in his zone. Lots of work to do on the positioning and defensive side, he lost 2 yrs of real development, he needs a lot of work,

we have to be patient with those kids though, Habs have a few prospects doing very well, it's now all about being drafted and making the NHL right away, most of those kids will take 2-3 yrs to reach the NHL, some longer after being drafted at 18yrs old.

it's all good. perso I would change the draft rule to draft them at 19 instead of 18 but that's just me.

His skating is already NHL caliber though, saw a few clips of him and he is really good but NCAA level is so meh that you just don't know how it will translate to the NHL speed.
- Habsody

He is also tiny, they say he is now at 5'9" and 155 (was 5'8 and 148 at the draft).

I have zero doubt his skating will be fine. same with his hockey sense and vision.
it will be his size the problem. can he defend (like a minimum required) well enough being that small using his skating and his stick? a bit like what Harris is doing right now. if yes, he'll probably make the team. dmen with his offense don't grow on trees.

some want immediate results following players being drafted, it's a process, development is required.

Habs had 2 big draft years in 2021 and 2022 so realistically we should see some of the guys flirting with the NHL next year, most likely the year after. Except for Slaf and Fantilli, those 2 will play for MTL right way.

Hutson interviewed with half the league, 16 teams, at the combine in June and to prove he’s no Lilliputian he brought with him an interesting document to theoretically ease concerns teams may have about his size.

A report from Hutson’s endocrinologist indicated his bone age is delayed relative to his biological age, which means his frame still has more than a full year of additional bone growth to go.

“It's just something I thought I'd share with them,” Hutson said. “And they're like, 'Oh, that's good, we're glad you came prepared.' I think every question in the room is usually about my size, it's the obvious thing. But I'm not too worried either way.”

I remember reading some wanted the Habs to draft him with their 2nd 1st rounder, instead of Mesar.
they finally got him at #62 lol

I look at him as a long shot ... he seems talented as (frank) but his small size for a D is concerning. It's no surprise he fell that low in the draft.

Hopefully, he can make us believers over time.

What I find crazy is when you look at current Habs roster, you have 7 guys (Drouin, Hoffman, Armia, Pitlick, Wideman, Dadonov, Gallagher) you can put on the waivers and would not be drafted…

You take Boston for example and you can’t find more than a couple…

I would be surprised if we would do same exercise with all teams, if there is another one with as much or more…

You are right about Monty Pat, he really improved his speed this year but he really is playing at his best right now. Will turn out to be a decent backup which is more than fine. But I am sorry to say that but Primeau will probably be never be a regular in the NHL, there is just too many flaws in his game and most importantly, he isn't strong enough mentally and this is a major flaw for a goalie. Our best goalie prospect is Jakub Dobes who had a great year last season in the NCAA and he is doing well again this year while his saves % slightly dropped but there is only 10 games in so...
- Habsody

you may be right about Primeau, but I find it's still much too soon to be drawing these conclusions, he's only 23 and has barely played for 2 years because of covid, which is huge in terms of development for a goalie, or any hockey player for that matter. we shouldn't be so hasty to give up on him imho...

Gaston Therrien qui s'attend à un impact de la part de Dadonov

et qui semble penser que toutes les équipes devraient se garrocher sur Pitlick

Half of our forwards have 0 or negative trade value…

Dindonov is part of that great group…

Absolutely….

But I think we have that problematic for a long time…. It is a transition year so the objective is to reduce that crap over next 2 years by better assets management. Next year for example, I think we can go from 7 to 4….

on dirait que quand une phrase commence avec "Gaston Therrien", tout ce qui suit perd automatiquement beaucoup de crédibilité...
