This I agree with, I think Sandin has enough raw talent to be a better player but his defensive game doesn’t seem to be stepping up. That’s why I still kind of hope when it comes to him, his intelligence grows to match his talent. Was hoping he’d be a bit quicker skating wise but it also doesn’t have to be that big of deal if he’s making the right choices.

With Sandin I see Jake Gardiner, except a little stronger, not as good of a skater, and a better shot. The argument with Gardiner at this age was much the same, talent and potential. But he BLEW defensively, he never grew past it, and we all hated him for it. Hope the story goes differently with Sandin but I'll believe it when I see it.

Yup, that’s what I’m seeing with the guy, the talent potential is there but he doesn’t seem to be grooming it yet.

It was a stupid penalty and the right call. Unfortunately for the Leafs, Vegas has to do something that can't be missed (like 6 skaters not within 30 feet of the bench) to be called for a penalty. Matthews and Marner have both been wearing Vegas players on their backs most of the game.
