Charlie said on the BSH that he heard Atkinson’s injury is neck related. He said the organization is being very mum on Atkinson’s situation so it’s not something he feels is 100% fact. He’s not skating & there isn’t an estimated time frame right now as to when that will happen. The Flyers have publicly said Atkinson is out with a UBI.

It would be crazy if it turns out he needs the same surgery that Eichel and Farabee had. Even more crazy if it turns out Farabee and Atkinson were doing the same workout.

I don't understand the secrecy and lack of information.

Whatever the injury is it will make almost impossible to move him in the foreseeable future.

The beat writers are just flat out soft. They should be asking everyday what is the issue with Atkinson.

This is why the secrecy is maddening. Just leads to speculation.

My position is that he does not have to prove that to have an opportunity to play in the NHL. Due to the fact that he was a kid when he made these errors and was punished and completed his punishment and the legal process in this case
- MJL

We just disagree. I think it is vital to determine who he is now. Evaluating a person’s present day character before a hire is not unusual or discriminatory. It would be strange to hire someone with a known past and not look at character.

You're right, a lot of damage can come from being wrong about him. What you fail to realize is that there are two sides to that. Including damage done to Miller. Unless you feel that he should pay for the rest of his life for what he did as a kid.
- MJL

Miller is not the victim. Anyone must live with the natural consequences of their past actions or inactions. Once employed, a person is held to the same standard as their peers, no more but no less. In that way, all people have to “prove” their character whether they have anything in their past or not.

Giving him an opportunity to prove himself after completing the punishment given by the court is how you evaluate his character. It is also not choosing to not look at his character. It is obvious that we disagree. You've still ignored what he has done to this point to improve himself. As well as not given any indication of what he needs to do. Which you obviously won't accept anyway.

He was a kid! I disagree that he is not a victim. In some ways he absolutely is. Look at the comments by his parents according to the letter from the victim's father. Miller's mother said, "boys will be boys" and were only concerned about his hockey career when notified of their child's actions. If that was my son, his hockey playing days would've been over, at least for a significant period of time when I found out about that. They could've gotten their child counseling. It is clear that Miller's parents were asleep at the wheel and raised an entitled bumhole with no sense of right and wrong.
There is a major difference between actions committed as a kid and as an adult.

Okay we've got the last word in now. Time to move on and head back to hockey talk.

Absolutely. I understand privacy issues, HIPAA etc when it comes to certain things, but we have heard everything from this (new) neck thing to heart issues from the covid vaccine to mental issues etc etc etc.

The Flyers almost invite the controversy. Its shady to say the least.

Just chill on the beach and enjoy the scenery (assuming you have a place to shower). Find a nice place to go eat dinner.

If the weather is right a trip to Haulover beach is truly an eye opener. Otherwise Gulfstream park is a real nice place to spend a few hours. A look back at how great racing used to be. Whatever you’re into you can find it in Miami.

I think this is happening because its a similar situation to Ellis where the team and doctors really don't know what is going on. As we found with Ellis, once the team knows for certain and have a plan they do give updates, unless of course like with Ellis the plan is derailed.

It is shady and promotes the controversy. How many times do they down play an injury only for it to come out as it was originally reported. Morin was reported to have another season ending knee injury, they come out and say it's just a clean up surgery and next think you know he's retiring. Coots is reported to have a 3-4 month or possibly season ending back injury, they say no, he's skating and hasn't felt this good since before his originally surgery, next thing you know he's having another surgery.
