Came to say the same as Pat, would have been easy to mail it in or skip a blog when you're feeling crappy. Your continued fine efforts are really appreciated. Feel better soon!

Lol j’ai deux bouteilles de gin ici mais une est autographiée par Lafleur et l’autre par Team Canada 72, no way que la covid va me faire toucher a ma collection

It’s the signatures that are worth something not the alcohol…

Might as well drain them.

no, in this case the bottles are worth more if they're unopened, they're much more collectable that way compared to just empty glass bottles.

Have you ever watched Pawn stars? The item signed is usually worth nothing unless it’s of historic value ( ie. a special ball or piece of game worn uni). The signatures are all that matters.

I dunno about Pawn stars but if you were to sell Guy Lafleur's bottle to a collector, there would be more interest for an unopened bottle that still has the gin in it. the bottle may not be "historical" in itself, but since Guy was involved in the creation of that product it does have a certain significance. otherwise it's basically a recyclable item with Guy's signature on it.

That’s all it is really. Likely worth 100-200 bucks.

I'm no expert, but you can bet your house I would pay more for a bottle full of gin than I would for an empty one.

You can buy an authenticated framed signed jersey for $400 and the frame itself is worth $250. Which would you rather buy? The framed signed jersey or a bottle of alcohol with his scribble on it?

I don't think that's a valid comparison, you're talking about a sealed bottle that exists directly because of the athlete's initiative, so unless the jersey was worn by Guy Lafleur himself, or he was somehow involved in the fabrication process, the item alone doesn't hold the same significance.

You can go buy the bottle for $47 bucks. There are thousands sold. It’s not a rare item.

my point is that if you have two bottles, exactly the same bottle, both signed by Lafleur, one is empty the other one is full of gin.
which one do you think will cost more?

It’s a wash. Sell unopened for $100. Or drink $50 bucks worth of gin then sell the signed bottle for $50.

the point isn't that the gin or the bottle is rare, but it's a rare item to have one signed and still sealed, which makes it a "complete" item. it's a very simple and logical concept imho but whatever, let bygones be bygones.

Flawed logic. The guys on pawn stars burst peoples bubbles all the time bringing in signed items. It may have sentimental value to you but it adds no value at all to the item itself.
