I was hoping for one franchise player...and this time for him to be a center. |

I would argue that this is already what with have with suzuki
they need a guy to play behind at C
They would not be able to pay for your dude anyway while still paying suzuki |

they don't have a 10.5M cap hit for a goalie anymore, and the drafted players will join the team on entry-level contracts.

Also, cap going up and contracts ending up in the next few years. They'll have the money. |

so your plan is they sign Dubois to an inflated contract in 2024? |

drafting in the top 5 at the next draft sure would be nice, but with all these upcoming prospects doing well it isn't the end of the world either if they don't, right...?

those last 3 years
long term, it would make 0 sense
suzuki is your number one centre
he's paid and is playing like one

No, they draft a C at 10 or 12 in the first round to play behind suzuki
not sure why you think I said they did not need to draft a C |

I have nothing against Suzuki, he's an amazing player, but would you say no to drafting a guy who could potentially be even better? if Suzuki becomes your 2nd line center, chances are you'd be on your way to becoming a pretty serious contender... |

still don't have that top center to join Suzuki in the top 6, the next draft in awesome in high end centers and most will be drafted in the top 6-7 picks. Habs also need that #1 D...but the next draft is shallow on D based on what I am reading.
I am not expecting Bedard (would be nice but I am realistic), one of Fantilli, Carlsson, Yager, Benson, Ritchie...even Dvorski would be nice. Right now the Habs will be drafting 12-13th. |

I don't think it would work cap wise. Maybe having some better wingers would be a better idea
They don't look like a team that will draft top 5 right now, but they could still draft a very good player outside the said top 5
they did it before |

I have a feeling Hughes might try moving up via trades, depending where they fall in the draft order.

They won't lose on purpose, that one for sure
I think fans should just enjoy the ride after last season
a losing culture is bad anyway |
