This isn’t true. I understand Zac MacEwen not being an ideal player on this team or any contending team but he’s here and I’m sorry but he’s playing well. Haters won’t admit to this. - SuperSchennBros The comment was in response to Risto. So it is true. Kurt Angle says it is damn true.
ZM Playing well in your opinion. Doesn't make it fact. |

While I have a problem that he is a regular in the lineup because I don't see him as part of the solution or the future, I have to admit he has earned his ice time. I have no issue with his effort level. He most definitely gives it his all when he is out there. Always noticeable. - MBFlyerfan ZM playing over 13 minutes a night shows you how piss poor the talent is throughout the organization, how out of touch the coach is, or a combo of both.
It is the NHL, he should give his all. This whole he tries hard is so overblown to me.
He is only 26, just entering his prime. |

I’ll say this about last night’s game. I was not upset we didn’t sign Johnny Gaudreau until yesterday’s game. He looked like Paul Kariya, if not better. I didn’t know he was that sweet a passer. |

I know what the comment was in response to and I gave an example as to why I disagree. Risto isn’t bad every game. He’s bad every other game, if not every third game. This might be too high a price but this is how I feel. |

This is part of the issue in my opinion. Folks say, why is Mac on the PP? Or why does he get more minutes than player x? I don’t hear a lot of: why is he in the lineup? When you do hear that, it is more about how many depth players they have in the lineup. Sometimes things about ND and his 4 year deal. All of these are really complaining about management and a degree of coaching decisions. Nothing bad about Mac, who has been good this season on the whole.

It’s painful. They let G go and don’t re-sign him, don’t trade for any elite forwards, and don’t sign elite UFA who wanted to play in Philly; yet at the same time refuse to declare a rebuild. It really is difficult to see the plan.

Torts seems to value "effort level" or "try" over any other aspect of a players game. While I do think it is important, it is not the end all be all. His seeming obsession with it is hurting the team IMO. Especially since it is somewhat subjective.

MacEwen has had a historic run of puck luck and has made a couple of plays. It won't last. He hasn't been good this season on the whole. He's been bad like most of the team overall. His puck luck will dry up and he will continue to be a waste of a roster spot.
