What do you mean, the 8 year draft and Develop didn’t work?
- ClaudeFather

Just wait till York learns to play a 200 ft game being told one thing by the NHL coach and another by the AHL coach

Not sure why you're having difficulty digesting my points made. This is on the people running the team. Comcast is supporting the team financially and has given the team all they need to be successful.
- MJL
Does it not ultimately fall on Comcast for allowing these people to continue to run the team like Scott?

They haven't given them all they need as Scott is still running the show. It all starts at the top.

Giving them the tools is great. As we can all see doesn't matter when incompetence runs rampant.

Risto is a streaky player who can really have some rough patches as we’ve all seen….that doesn’t sit well with Tort’s. I think the Flyers could actually move him . There are teams that would take him…
- landros 2

I think they definitely could've moved him at last year's deadline. Now that he signed that contract, the Flyers are stuck with him. That's got all the makings of an albatross.

I think there’s still a chance with him to get moved….if it was 6 or 7 mil I could see it being a huge issue. But 5.1$ for a big right handed physical d man? there are a lot of teams looking for d as we speak….desperate.

The Flyers love to talk about accountability….you would think that means the management as well.

They are at 50 contracts.

Is Fedotov still counting? If so cant imagine they cant rid themselves of it some how.

If Chuck wants AA he will find a way. A non issue.

I disagree 100%. There is not 1 team that takes that contract on at this time. Unless a similar deal for same term and money coming back.

Other than if you look at who they choose to run the team, Scott. I'm not sure why many want to blame Comcast. The provide the team with financial resources to form a quality NHL team. They have one of the highest payrolls in the NHL. Projected to rank 9th in player salaries. They've committed millions of dollars to coaches. They have quality facilities and give Fletcher and company an open check book to expand multiple departments of hockey ops. Including scouting and analytics. Is it really on comcast?
- MJL

While a fair question/point, it seems that Comcast is not insisting on a winning product, only a profitable one. It makes me (and others) question why Comcast would continue to put up with a mediocre product that has become somewhat of a pariah throughout the NHL.

I don't know what teams would be looking to take on a big physical defenseman who isn't any good and be willing to take on 4 more years at 5M after this season. Is there a market for a relatively expensive bad defenseman with term in the NHL?

This should be their mind set. In words it is. Not sure Torts couldn’t bring himself to play those aging vets that already play the right way but lack anything more then a mediocre result.

Doesn't a successful team that sells out the building, and makes playoff runs bringing in more revenue. Make a bigger profit?

Good question. Haven't gotten a good answer. Atkinson could be put on regular IR, backdated to opening night and (theoretically) activated as soon as cleared to play.

Recalling this Tom Wilson hit on Atkinson late last year. He left the game and was shut down for rest of year if I am recalling this correctly. Is this the source of his problem?

Ottawa is in desperate need of defensemen. I think they're down to #9 and #10 on the depth chart.

They could just put him on IR that day to gain a spot -- why back date it?

A player placed on IR can't play for 7 days.
