Above .500 is shocking.

Without the 2019-20 season the results are epically terrible.

Apparently it's his labrum. If he gets surgery, he outs till next season, so they are trying to avoid that.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. The plan has worked for Ellis as he transitions to LTIR until retirement...

Yeah I wish the best for him but it's puzzling. Did he receive a concussion at training camp in practice you think? I don't think he got into a preseason game.

On another note, Martin Jones named one of 3 stars of the week haha.. Maybe he wasn't so bad after all and it might have been the team in front of him after all? I know he went to the power house Kraken and all but just sayin.. I think we might want to remember that when we look at Hart..

- Hextall271

So I guess just adding DeAngelo and Deslaurias probably was not going to change the trajectory of the team that much. I have no issue with Hart. With this offense, any goalie is going to have a tough time accumulating W's.

The Flyers have been extremely successful with that approach.

If he gets the surgery it will have a 6 month recovery time, so no real harm in delaying it and seeing if it isn't totally necessary. The player might not want to rush into it at his advanced age.

"When Josh suffered the injury, the options were to have it surgically repaired and miss the rest of the season or rest and rehabilitate with a chance to return to the lineup," said Kekalainen. "Unfortunately, the injury has not responded as any of us had hoped to the latter and the decision was made to have the surgery now so that Josh will be fully healthy and ready to go next season."

Shoulder surgeries are very common.

No one that I know of thought Martin Jones did a bad job here, in fact Fletcher said he would have resigned him if he had the cap space. Apparently, someone took his cap space while he was napping ...

So far this season is happening as I expected it to, a lot of close and low scoring games with the Flyers on the short end of most of them.

Why, so he can be ineffective and in and out of the lineup for most of this season, have surgery late in the season or in the off-season and then miss next season?

Exactly. At least this franchise is consistent. They are incompetent in every aspect of hockey.

That's the plan and they will execute it to perfection.

Bill,
Any insight into the way the Flyers handle injuries? While hockey is a physical game and the injury bug hits, are the Flyers an outlier or consistent with the rest of the league? Seems there’s way too many lingering injuries that don’t respond well to rehab instead of surgery, and it seems many players come back from surgery yet don’t seem 100%.

Will that then become the excuse he is facing tough matchup's?
- furio16

Yes, this is my problem with Frosty. I agree that he won't be as productive on a line with ND or other checkers, but the last few games, he has gotten more ice time so obviously, he faced tougher matchups and well he should as that's what a top 6 player does. I think back to Coots at 19, and he faced tough matchups (ex: Malkin), and that's what made me a Coots fan (although not a fan of his contract). If Frosty is a legit NHL player, he should be showing some flashes here and there, despite the sad sack team we have.

Once I saw the Flyers lineup for last night's game, I knew it was going to be a long night. Right now the only bright spot is watching Tippett on the ice. He is young and still making mistakes, but he's fun to watch.
- Thors-Hammer

Yes, the current lineup is depressing to see. Totally agree about Tippett! I liked what I saw of him last season even though it was a small sample. Tippett is noticeable out there and yes, he is fun to watch and fun to see him improving.

Wow, was I looking like a bust until MSL got here and I got my mojo back. Poor York stuck in the AHL. Man if I was in Philly with Torts there, I’d be in the AHL cuz I’m five seven and a buck seventy and can’t fight.

Thankfully,

He has shown plenty of flashes. Since he was placed on a higher line, he has had two solid games out of the 3 games. Your problem is still unclear.

Anyone else looking forward to when the day comes the coach blows a gasket? The losing will continue overall. It will eat Torts alive from the inside. What I want to see is where he directs his anger and blame towards.

It's all Hayes and Frost's fault.

Good morning. If we are still sitting here in 6 months saying he has shown plenty of flash with limited results then what? How many breakaways goals has scored compared to his chances? Results matter.

It is only a matter of time before he goes of IMO. Will it get directed at all towards management?

No question. Tippet was part of the crap return that Fletcher got from Florida when he was fleeced in the trade. Looks like he has the potential to be a good player to me.

top out top line winger, looks like a lock for 2nd line, who needs size, speed and shot

Then let’s give him this year to show results…it’s becoming pretty apparent what they are. The sole focus should be on work ethic and growth for guys like Frost, Cates, Allison, Tippet, Farabee, Hart, Sandstrom, Sanheim, Laczynski, for now and guys like Attard, York and maybe even Forester in the later part of the year. Results do matter.

Truth to what you say, I think if Frost slotted 2nd line right now with Tip, it would be a good measuring stick. Coots 1st line, then Frost, I don't think he will flash much with 1st line matchup. For all the heartburn and the bad game last game, he is still only -1, with -2 coming last game. Frost has shown a good forecheck, some good passing but needs to close the deal. Bottom line, leave him with Tip and lets finally see what we have.
