BSens 0-3 with Zaitsev in the lineup. 0-7 in Sens line up, so that's a whopping 0-10. - LawyerSens4Life Wow, that's crazy. He's dead weight. |

How the heck did we loose Nick Paul AND Alex Formenton? They were fast, consistent, defensively gifted, and offensively dangerous too. I like Motte and Joseph but it's a significant downgrade for a team that is looking to improve. |

That's easy enough for me to answer, I think. Nick Paul was traded as Melnyk was still in charge - we probably didn't want to pay him. Paul might still be playing for the Sens had the 'other event' happened earlier.
Formenton's probably under a cloud of uncertainty thanks to the investigation about a young woman. Until that clears up (positively for everyone), he probably won't play for the Sens. |

Man........ while I wasn't a fan of Melynk with $, I just think it's hard to believe he was much of a factor (passing away days after the trade to Tampa). I do think $ played a factor, I just think PD should've done a better job. That said hopefully Joseph will rebound but I think a 2 year deal was better than a FOUR year one.
Agree on formenton, it's related to case 100% |

Nick Paul 9g 7A for 16 P in 22 games
amazing how ex sens players get better when they are no longer coached by DJ...
Brown was gone, is was going to ask for too much for OTT to keep him.
but thing is, OTT is missing their BEST 3rd liner, Formenton and did nothing to replace him, Motte is barely a 3rd liner and Joseph has just been bad, should have just signed to 1 year... - Mithos
Nick Paul scored again tonight for Tampa.

So your GM couldn’t even trade Formenton a rights. |

We don't know what we don't know. We do know that Dorion has stated that the league has advised him that the team is not allowed to talk to the media or others about this asset. If Dorion is not allowed to talk about Formenton, how does he trade this asset?
The mere fact that Formenton's agent and his lawyer have said nothing about clearing the way for him to play in the NHL this year is a huge statement on the situation.

he scored TWICE, he had more goals in that game than joseph has all season |

when the environment is good - everyone is playing well with confidence then people score.
When it's going bad. Like it is here right now. Nobody has confidence. Nobody is scoring. |

It’s hard not make the Paul/Joseph and Brown/Motte comparisons. Right now, it doesn’t look like great tradeoffs. However, Debrincat and Giroux were also added to this roster up front. If they were not, Paul and Brown might be playing up in the line up like last season, or worse, Joseph and Motte would be playing higher in the lineup and we’d be complaining about the lack of top 6 depth as oppose to bottom 6 depth. Don’t forget that Norris being out has toyed around with the depth of the lineup as well. It would be nice to have Paul and a healthy Brown on this team as it stands but also, not sure if it was totally realistic. Rather than Paul/Joseph and Brown/Motte comparisons, maybe it should be Girouz/Paul and Debrincat/Brown comparisons? Just food for thought.
Outside of the weak defence, coaching is the next thing that needs fixing and is frankly easy to do. Ownership should have nothing to do with it. You just need DJ and co gone. Period. Addition by subtraction. Doesn’t matter who you hire. It can be an interim basis. If the guy you really want won’t take an interim title, big deal. Get someone who will and reevaluate the coaching position once the season is over/new ownership is in place. Keeping DJ and co around because |

No problem with Giroux as far as I can see but I'm taking either Paul or Brown over DeBrincat all day long. How about if they had given Paul the very cap friendly deal he was asking for, held onto Brown with the idea of getting something for him at the deadline which I'm pretty sure would have been more than a 2024 second round pick, and added just Giroux?
Unfortunately the team seems to be stuck with the massively incompetent PD for a little more and I can only hope and pray that he's been completely neutered as far as trades and signings go.
They're stuck with Joseph for 4 years but they can probably survive that. They will probably survive the Brannstrom trade. There are quite a few other highly questionable Dorion moves over the last 4 years that they will also likely survive. Eight more years of a 9 million dollar DeBrincat they would not survive. |

Nick paul is on a very good team. Hence results.
Regardless all roads are leading back to Smith and Dorion. It appears to be a dead end.
Right now i see those 2 as hurting the team. Perhaps for years to undo. Smith can leave tomorrow and dorion in march |

Joseph didn't do anything when he was with Tampa and he's doing the same with Ottawa. Tampa obviously liked what they saw in Paul. Joseph has a few good games with Ottawa, a couple of hat tricks against bottom feeder teams as I recall which he's never done before, and Pierre "Proudest Day of My Life" Dorion signs him to 4 years at 3 million. Somebody stop this disaster of a GM. |

either the shot clock is wrong or OTT only had zero to 1 shot on goal in a 4 minutes PP.....wow |

chabot is looking like a 5-6 Dman not a #1....using only his stick to stop a bouncing puck is a rookie mistake and yet he does it all the time.... |

what horrendous positioning by talbot leads to a NYR goal... |

I was not trying to say joseph is better. Just saying you likel could put debrincat on the tampa squad, andhe would light it uo. Point being ottawa has good players just bad coach and gm |

He was set up right in front of the net by Tkachuk and misses the net.
A stupid goal by Talbot who was protecting the side of the net is all NY got. Good saves and a little luck by Shesterkin. A lot of good potential chances for Ottawa but they either fan on the puck, miss the net or else try a pass that gets blocked.
So many shots from the point on the PP by Sanderson who looks like he's going to blast the puck right through the net but they're not that hard and easily blocked. Nothing gets through to the net.
I like the fourth line again. Lots of energy. The forecheck seems to be working better so far.
10 minutes for Chabot so far. DJ will play him till he drops like he always does.
Second period they sure are getting their chances. Glad to see Hamonic is OK.
All Tkachuk had to do was drag his skate a bit. Didn't even try.
DeBrincat finally just did the simple thing. Get the puck on the friggin net.
Another 2 on 1 and they just refuse to shoot the puck on net but NNNOOOOO it's got to be a pretty pass with an empty net tap in. So no shot on net again.
So many times they have possession with all kinds of room and time and somehow manage to not get it out of the zone. |

What’s the official reason for Zaitsev to be in the line up?
Holden, Lassi Thompson die in a firey escalator accident at Bayshore whilst Christmas shopping ? |

What a play by the worst Dman in all of hockey anywhere in the world to keep that puck in at the line.. Really great play by Chabot and a nice deflection by Tkachuk. |
