Thank you, Bill, for your great Flyers reporting and for the '80's works as well. I grew up with those mid-80's teams and loved them.
As upset as Stickle's missed call made me - if the Flyers weren't in a must-win game, then that wouldn't have hurt nearly as much. I agree that an offsides call missed by feet instead of inches is pretty much unheard of in the NHL, sort of like the missed DPI call on the Rams (vs. Saints) in the NFCC game a few years ago. But was the same for the Saints as it was for the Flyers - play a bit better leading up to that point, and the missed call doesn't hurt as much, or maybe doesn't even happen at all.
As for Chris Chelios - I've been a hockey fan for decades now, and that has to be one of the most vicious, cheap-shot, targeting hits I've ever seen. And Chelios got off scot-free, if memory serves... i.e. no penalty, fine, or suspension. Unless Hextall's suspension for attacking Chelios in game 6 is counted. - copelal
Correct. No suspension, no fine, not even so much as an elbowing minor.

really makes no sense, how about Brown or Willman, just senseless. Do they think another team will take him and want him gone, ugh. Maybe they figure they need more roster spots with players getting healthy. Who is on IR right now that is coming back? Looks like only JVR would be close - wcorvette
I guess they must feel there is no future for Bellows. I am not shocked but I agree it makes no sense. Unless they are trying to gain a contract space? I actually thought that he had some nice games of late. Apparently there is a disconnect between Torts and Fletcher…Torts today talked about the long term view and how it won’t happen over night….that’s rebuild talk. Fletcher talked about being 5 points out of a playoff spot and seeing where they are when they get healthy…to go along with his most recent long term contract for Sanheim….doesn’t seem to be a long term view from him at all. |

If it wasn't for all the injuries. Kerr might have wound up in the HOF. He was that good
Kerr was one of my all time flyers player. He played in a bad era where a lot of holding slashing etc was very prevalent.
My all time Flyers 1st line would be
Kerr

As Fletcher has just said, the numbers are trending in the right direction. Once they get a few players back they are right back in it. 5 points back from the wild card. The room has optimism. It's fun to be around. |

Kerr really only follows Clarke in my all time list….as a kid growing up I tried to model my game after his. 4 straight 50 goal seasons….to me he belongs in HOF….as Bill pointed out, his numbers ar pretty close to Cam Neely’s who is in.

Watching Hayes point up to the sky after a goal gives me the chills. Always rooting for the Hayes' - kindlyrick
If he is dedicating this season to his brother then I LOVE what he is doing this season and I'm sure that his brother is proud of him.
It gives me chills as well when he points up to his brother. Emotions hit me every time.
He may be lazy defensively but i am in full support of hasey and his dedication to his brother
Now let's help him raise his trade value!! |

The Flyers need to create a roster space to bring back Konecny. So instead of waiving one of the older veteran players who don't have a future. Waive a young player. Bellows hasn't been great but has had a few decent games. He is skilled. Make an investment and keep him around for the year. Not a major loss if he is claimed but this is what a bad organization does. - MJL
Agree. No reason they need Brown or Willman around. Honestly feel those two and Sedlack are redundant types so no need for all 3. See if you can unlock something in Bellows that make him a useful asset for the future. |

There is nothing to lose and everything to gain. Brown comes off IR and right into the lineup. Ridiculous. He should be in the minors. Waive him and hope he is claimed. Same for Deslauriers and McEwen. I'll keep Sedlak as vet depth. He is the best. No reason for the rest of them to be on the team. I guarantee that when JVR and Allison are ready to come back, they'll move someone like Frost instead.

The Flyers way would be to beat one of those top teams and then lose to AZ.

They want to sign AA so they need to waive someone who will get claimed cause Chuck already has them at 50 contracts. |

Great record, but it’s really hard to compare albums from different eras and genres. Any of the following would be in the running for my fave album of all time:
Beatles: Abbey Road
Rush: Moving Pictures
Fleetwood Mac: Rumours
Pink Floyd: Animals
Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon
Rolling Stones: Exile on Main Street
AC/DC: Back in Black
Boston: Boston
Led Zeppelin: I
Led Zeppelin: IV
The Who: Who’s Next
And I’m probably forgetting a few, lol - BiggE

No doubt about it. He would crush the other two also could skate like he was 5’10 180

Surprised Konecny is a game time decision. Wasn't he slated to come back end of next week as of just a day or two ago?

I literally laughed out loud when he said he was talking to Scott Laughton about the 10 game losing streak and how it "just feels different this year". Glad to hear those double digit streaks no longer feel like a terribly negative experience for the team. |

Totally agree. I read that article and the other one about 80s. Fantastic. So many good teams. Seemed like every second year we were in the running to go deep or win the cup. Not like that now.
Loved Kerr and a lot of the flyers from that era. Howe poulin propp I could go on and on. Loved the teams.
all time faves:
Hexy
Lindros
Leclair.
