"Play the kids" was taken off they table when they hired Torts. - Tomahawk
In my opinion Frost, Tippett, Cates, Farabee and Zamula are kids. Laczynski and Allison needed shots at the NHL and they’ve got them. |

I think it would be a BIG mistake to move Briere into the GM role right now. He has really just dipped his toes into the GM role for about 1 year now, he needs more time to GM at the minor league level and be the assistant GM for the Flyers. If I were the Flyers, I would hire Stacey Roest from Tampa as the GM and let Briere serve as assistant under him for 4 years or so. Then when the time comes Briere can move into the role. The one thing we can all agree on however if moving Fletcher as far from the role is the best possible thing to do at this point. - jd250
What if there are no other current options besides Briere (and that guy you mentioned isn't available or isn't interested)? Do you make the change or wait it out, stick with Fletcher, and let him keep (frank)ing things up for the worse?
I'd rather go with the former—Briere as the only "now" option rather than wait any longer with Fletcher in charge—and pray he's not as bad with the little experience he has at this point. At least he earns a look and a bit of time for the Flowns since they'll just remain poopty anyway no matter what (I can't see it being any worse). In other words, any way you slice the turd, it's nonetheless still going to be a turd for some time to come, no matter who takes the reins at this time. |

The kids are playing up front. On the back end not so much but Zamula is being sprinkled in. Let’s see how the season progresses |

I think Briere gets the interim role and someone else is hired before the end of the season. Fletcher is removed as GM before the trade deadline. |

That's no true at all, in fact I think as this train wreck of a season continues you are going to see more and more kids enter the lineup. I think its best for players like York, Foerster and others to stay away from the big club and get as much ice time in the AHL as possible, and maybe even realize some success. Next year they will need to be ready to join the big club. In the mean time, we can continue to watch Morgan Frost start on the top line and get moved down to the 4th line by the time the game ends ... I think Torts has already made up his mind regarding this youngster. |

You may be right but I doubt there are no other good options out there. The reason I like Stacey so much is he has several years of GM experience in the AHL and as part of Tampa's staff, and leads player development. We can all see how good Tampa is at developing players, thus Stacey is the type of person I would hire. It would be a chance to be a GM on his own, why wouldn't he be interested? |

This! It's simply rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. This organization needs to be totally de-Fletcherized. |

The pompous douchery of clamoring about this kid going to Nashville and then doubling down again to Tampa was hilarious. |

There are good traits to his game…but take away all his offensive game and you have a 2 mil a year d man. If they aren’t going to use him, at all, that way…then there’s no need for him to be here…plain and simple. - landros 2

It’s not just Fletcher. It needs to go further up the chain, because Holmgren and Scott need to go also. Clean house. |

I prefer more kids for sure, the 4th line at practice today serves no purpose for the future. As long as Tip, Frost, Cates, Zam and even Farabee keep getting reps, it is something. I would prefer, the 4th line have more youngens, for the D not to have Braun and Seeler. I do get Seeler and Braun, they might fetch a late round pick at the TDL, but I think the value in having the kids plays outweigh getting a 5th instead of a 6th

Correct, but that’s what going to happen because ownership doesn’t give a damn. For Comcast, it’s all about the stadium and, to a lesser extent, selling merchandise. Ticket sales and attendance would have to drop to the 10-12 thousand range before they’d even notice.
This team will fluctuate between so-so and terrible until this team is sold. It’s already been going on for over half a decade. Face it, the script has already been written. Briere will serve as GM under the “leadership” of Chuckles and Lombardi, Clarke and Barber will still be in the shadows whispering in Fletcher’s ear. Scott will retire and Val will take over but nothing will change in the slightest. Torts will be here until at least midway thru the 24-25 season and don’t be surprised when Lappy gets the job next.
Apathetic ownership coupled with dated cronyism at the management level is never going to lead to anything good. At this point, I just pray the team is sold before I’m senile or dead. |
