Gosh this is long way off, but this is clearly the deepest the U.S. has ever been. Tage Thompson just came out of nowhere and becomes one of the best centers in the world. No one saw that coming.
Don't sleep on Dylan Cozens on team Canada. He's a baby Bergeron. Mark my words. |

It's a fun topic even with Chris McAvoy and Owen Powers, whomever they are. |

Oh forget Ek's lines. I just think the topic is a good one, if far off. This is the first time I remember the U.S. having skill near this deep. Normally Canada can ice two teams with more talent than America. Not anymore. |

What about the following? Stamkos, Suzuki, Tavares, Nugent-Hokins, Horvat, Skinner, Hyman who are in the top 50 points range at the moment : any of these warrant a spot on the team? Im glad your not the manager for my team. |

Sure. If these are the two rosters then USA looks better. But my goodness, how can you possibly think this is the Team Canada roster in 2025-26. So clueless.
Mark Stone? He wouldn't make the roster today. Certainly not in 2025-26.
Connor Brown? Same thing. If Canada sent 5 teams he isn't on any of them. But that's your 2nd line. Mark Stone and Connor Brown. I thought about not even reading further.
You have Nick Suzuki on the bench for Canada. Smart move. Mason MacTavish is somehow on the 3rd line, but also on the bench. Does he have a twin? Bo Horvat not even good enough for Canada's bench. Right.
Morgan Rielly? Oh my.
Goaltending is hilarious. Sebastian Cossa is currently playing in the ECHL but comes out of nowhere and is on the roster. Hmm, I wonder if a guy like Logan Thompson or Stuart Skinner might become a bonafide #1 by 2025-26. Thompson is basically there already. But I'll keep a close eye on Cossa's ECHL stats.

There is a way to post a different team Canada roster than Ek's without insulting him. There's so much venom on these threads in particular sometimes. I mean, why? |

Connor Brown eh? Bold choice even for Don Cherry |

Brown??? really. That's just throwing lesser names into a line up.
Be better man...just be better.... |

That's complete horsepoop... the US have been icing deep teams as far back as 1996.

Brian Burke tried pulling that underdog card back in 2010 when they were considered a strong co favorite with Canada. |

I don't have an issue with the topic, or even the players he suggested. It's just frustrating that he doesn't reread what he wrote before posting it and he puts no effort. In just this post, he included a sentence with "the the", multiple names wrong, a player listed twice, arbitrarily deciding when to include first and last names, not listing the ages of the last two goalies for Canada. And it's not just this post, it's every one of his posts.
Meanwhile, Ek hires employees who are actually writers or actually care to edit their work, but I can only assume Ek is the only one making decent money off this site. |

Alex Pietrangelo at 34 on the 1st pair. I dunno. I agree on Cal Makar tho. Cale is the present and future for elite D men but Cal is better all around.
|
|
|
|
Jacob Slavin not even making Team USA as an extra? He's probably one of the most elite shutdown defensemen in the league. Has some offensive upside and make offensive defensemen better. |

Hyman-McDavid-Marner
Suzuki-MacKinnon-Point
Marchand-Horvat-Crosby
RNH-Cozens-Kyrou
Chychrun-Makar
Chabot-Ekblad
Theodore-Dobson
Thompson-Skinner-Hart
There. That took 5 minutes of effort and is infinitely better. Correct spelling. D-men playing on their normal sides. Not including ridiculous names like Connor Brown or an ECHL goalie because he was drafted high.

Ek commits journalistic fraud on a regular basis. Hundreds of self claims over years about being a "source" on transpired transactions that real journalists are verifiable sources on. Then he has the editing skills of a mentally handicapped stillborn. This also ignores his sensationalized "rumors" of dubious origins to put it kindly. So the criticism is more than warranted. |

I like Connor Brown but he wouldn't crack the third team Canada put together. |
