O'Brien has the goods. He's going to be a player. I watch a lot of hockey and live in Boston. Short time later. I don't think he's going to be signed.
Don't worry about that though. Boston is going to trade for Hayes because he is a hometown guy. - MJL
What do you think the Flyers could get for Hayes today?

No way Fletcher does that. He’d insist they add a 2042 6th.

A lot of what a development coach is NOT on the ice. They have on-ice coaches. They work with the mentality, the professionalism side and make suggestions (but not demands) for on-ice adjustments.
Sammy helped Robert Hägg, failed offensive-minded defenseman, find a different niche and get to the NHL for 300+ games. Laugh and roll your eyes all you want at "take the body, handle the puck less and go off the glass with the puck" as advice but for players like Hägg who seemed in danger of not rising above the NHL, adopting a different approach to find a role player spot in the NHL is a career-saver.
He was part of the development process with Travis Sanheim. He helped Phil Myers (whose later regression came at the NHL level after a promising start) early on. In fact, the Flyers have had quite a few homegrown defensemen in recent years who've become NHL lineup regulars or are knocking on the door.
It's the job of the development coaches to help prospects become pros. The rest is on the player himself and his direct coaches to utilize him in a way that puts him in position to succeed. - bmeltzer
Ahh yes, the bi-monthly "This is what a player development coach does" explanation. See you again in 2 months when someone brings up Chris Stewart.

i know you like picking on jd250 all the time but this is getting very tired and makes me think he's on your mind - a lot. pretty pathetic.
Also, York should not have been on this team day 1. he had a terrible camp. but you'll continue to talk like you have any idea what you're saying

He did. They’re both absolute busts and should be placed on waivers immediately. I wonder how long it will be until chuck can’t use the this whole mess is hextalls fault excuse when he talks to Scott? |

So he’s got a 12 team no trade clause. A trade is doable but I am not sure what we’d get. I think we might get a decent return if we retained some salary |

I don’t see it. You’d have to retain like $2M which is unrealistic and the team won’t do. He’s only moved in a Jake/Cam type deal |

as of now I don't see O'Brien getting offered a contract unfortunately. - jd250
Neither do I. If they haven't offered him one yet I doubt they're in a hurry to do so, which is puzzling since we have worse contracts on our books rather than JOB
Flyers management doing flyers management things, eh? |

Regarding York. If anything this was the right decision by the organization. He had a really bad camp, didn’t look himself. They send him down for 20 games to get his game back and then call him up. That’s the way it should be for a young D man. |

I never said he was going to be there forever. Just that he should have been up weeks ago because the #4-6 dmen the Flyers have been putting out every night are very poor, and the 2nd PP unit has been completely useless.
There are only 4 players in the league who have played 20+ games but have zero points, and two of them are Flyers defenseman.
