He’s had a couple of blips of injuries this year and will be 33 by next season. He’s been a solid stay at home guy for a long time, but those guys don’t have terrible long shelf lives. I’d be weary bringing him in. Need to get a 24-year-old Gudas. - Gord_Wilson_2.0
💯 agree that would be sweet to find a young decent stay at home D 🤙 |

Im not accepting this.
These two men should have spent the last three years "seeing what they had in Thompson and JBD'. Now it's too late. Because they left them both in the minors too long and/or didn't find a quality replacement on the blue line and AND kept insisting on playing Josh Brown, or Zaitsev or Mike Reiley or Viktor Mete or whoever else wasn't good enough or coached well enough.
And that last point should really stick. Because Mike Reiley looked pretty darn good in Boston. Josh Brown was reasonable too. And Viktor Mete looks like a man reborn in blue. So does Mr. Murray. So...if all your players that weren't good enough on defense and goal in YOUR city --- go somewhere else and play in an actual system better......what does that say about your coaching staff? - Octavarium
If you consider what is stated in my post i want Dorion to sign Zub and to free up space on the blue line to give JBD and Thomson some playing time.
I have lost confidence in the coach and in Dorion's ability to build a roster. I'm just waiting for the new ownership to take control and make the decisions. |

Underlined, bolded. On top of those mentioned, Gudbranson has been much improved since leaving, Paul, Duclair, White. I get there isn't much momentum or incentive to make a coaching move for the organization right now with the ownership in flux and that this might just be another aimless year, but many signs point to systems having something to do with the team's poor performance.

In case anyone was still fooled by Colin White's hot start, it's been a very sobering and predictable return to normal. He's now got just 12pts in 28GP, and if you break that up into 7GP sections his production has deteriorated from 6pts-3pts-2pts-1pts in each successive 7GP section. I always hoped White would find a way to work things out, but it's hard to suggest the Senators were wrong about him, given that his PPG in FLA has fallen into line with his career norms...
2020-21 (OTT) - 0.40PPG
2021-22 (OTT) - 0.42PPG
2022-23 (FLA) - 0.43PPG
Career (OTT-FLA) - 0.44PPG
Of course, it's also true that they're basically getting Joseph, Motte and White's buyout for the same $$$ they would have been paying White this year. - khawk
Ya... Colin White should never have received a long term deal. A bridge around 2-3M would've helped everyone and I think he would've been a reasonable mid line player |

Sens need to do what is best for the next few seasons (after this one), no point in trying to to make a run this year if injuries are long term like this!
I could be wrong |

Sens are now only 2 games below .500.
Talbot was superb. Pinto, Batherson and DeBrincat were really good. DeBrincat is putting up solid numbers. |

I think the trick is to refuse to allow making the playoffs the central goal of the team for this season. But, do not let up on wanting to be a hard out in every game, especially against contending teams.
Don't make any trades or player moves unless they support the long term goal of establishing the Sens as a contender.

I would look into why so many young Senators have suffered serious shoulder injuries playing for this coach.
It's beyond a coincidence at this point. |

Also, what was the transaction with Tyler Boucher?
Recalled? on "loan"? What does that mean?
Not much over in Europe that could help us either.
Zach Boychuk's name poppped out at me. |

Getting young kids to play hard and physical against men game in and game out or find yourself in the coach's doghouse. |

Felt the team played a solid game overall. Talbot was great and hid a few errors which is what your goalie needs to do. Once Stu went down, I felt they kind of let their foot off the gas. Stu will be a big loss, but it provides an opportunity for the likes of Pinto, Batherson, and Debrincat to get a on a role and be relied on more a bit. Having Giroux in the lineup will be very useful as he can slot at either centre of wing. You could make a legitimate argument that Giroux has been this team’s most valuable player. |

I felt the Ducks made the Sens look like Stanley Cup contenders.
Winning a few in a row here and getting to .500 would be nice.
I don't get why Giroux at center seems so offensive to everyone. |

Makes sense. Read report saying there may be as many as 25 individuals and/or groups expressing interest in buying the Sens. Most of them will drop out on their own when they realize they don't have the financial depth to compete with the final bidders. As groups start to drop off, they will be the source of information telling us the groups still in the game with the inside position for getting a deal done.
The fact they announced an agreement resolving the dispute over the previously failed LeBreton bid tells us that everyone is greasing the skids for this to happen. More important it would appear that everyone is committed to ensuring this is going to be presented as a huge winner for Ottawa, the NCC, the Melnyk family and the NHL ownership group.
