Of course, guys like McDavid who are superstars out of the gate don’t bother too often, but sometimes a little polishing isn’t bad.

Gaudreau played in college. Eichel. Brindy. Patrick Sharp! Man, I’d love to have another shot at keeping a guy like Sharp. Toews and Kessel. Werenski. Quinn Hughes. Pavelski. Oh, and didn’t your boy Guentzel start in college?

I wouldn’t thumb my nose at having any of those guys on my team.

Michkov might be tough to pry from Russia, though. Whomever drafts him might have to exchange an arms dealer in return. Carlsson could be the safer pick just because of foreign relations.

This bitter pill of a season will be tough to get down, but hopefully we’ll have a solid base to build around again soon. The last time didn’t work out well, especially with what we thought was a budding defense, but hey. You take another swing.
