Markstrom really (frank)ing sucks, couldn't stop a beach ball, what a waste of cap space for an over the hill goalie. - FlamesFan1230
He let in two perfect shots on breakaways that no one's going to save. Not the game to complain about Markstrom. He absolutely played well enough to win.
If your team can't score 3 goals against that defence, you don't deserve a win. |

I watched most of it just to see how Cbus would play after Buffalo… flames just looked bored all night… Cbus had at least 6 or 7 easy 2 x 1 ‘s plus a few straight breakaways including at least 2 - 2 on 0 ‘s |

The flames not only lose but were close to getting Shut Out by the worst team in the NHL. If this is not a signal to insert Phillips in the lineup. Then I really don't know what to say. |

Do you know what getting shutout means?
The weird spin Francis tried to put on the reason why Phillips wasn't playing doesn't make a lick of sense when you realize it actually cost the Flames more to bring up Phillips before Zohorna. |

I honestly think Marky was good today. Yes he allowed an early goal, but man Flames D was crap today. There were handing out breakaways, 2 on 0's, and odd man rushes like candy. |

Yup, no weak ones tonight...he did his job. Flames actually scored twice but the early whistle robbed them. Have a feeling the Blue Jackets dug deep for JH. They didn't play like one of the worst team in the league. |

When you get embarrassed 9-2 you normally show up the next game.
Can’t blame Markstrom. Have to score more than one goal to win a game. |

The guy just did not want to play in Canada after the way in which the Canadian gvt handled Covid. That’s really all there is to it. He just should have come out and said it.
If I had an infant and was concerned my family could not fly in to see him or vice versa I’d have done the same. |

As far as Tkschuk and Guadreau go....what could of happened did...time to move on.
As far as what's wrong... maybe Sutters punitive style of coaching is out dated. Ruzicka comes on board and has early success with two three point games. He makes a couple of gafs which any young player will and he is suddenly moved down.
You have to mould young talented players, let them learn from there mistakes rather than sticking with older veteran players that quite simply cannot keep up.
Matthew Phillips deserved to play today and if the AHL is so bush league and Phillips is too small why does he have 30 points in 20 games and Brett Sutter has 13. |

Ther has always been issues with Ruzicka being up and down in effort. Goes back to junior. Sutter was trying to keep him hungry. I have other problems with the coaching, but right now Ruzicka isn't it. He's being trusted more and more. Out there with an EN trying to get one. He was part of that success. If Sutter didn't like him, he wouldn't get a sniff.
My problem is the idea of a gritty 4th line that does little else. On the road, you can even put them out for fear of being outmatched. The line isn't working any more. Lewis may be a bit injured (suggested) and he is the only one that doesn't forget his job out there. Ritchie is not good in our zone. Lucic is aweful. The only good shift last night was a scoring chance for Zoh, which turned into a goal the other way. We could ice an entire 4th line of AHL players and it would be better. Keep Zoh at C and call up Pelletier.

I got no problem with Ritchie, but wouldn’t it be nice to insert some speed and youth into this dressing room. |

If he keeps playing like this, would not be surprised if Looch retires before we hit the halfway mark. He's already got all his bonuses...not much left on that contract. |

Phillips looked good. He did not look out of place. He had 9min21seconds ice time. Not bad for his 1st game this season. Hope he gets more comfortable and we see lots of him.
Too bad we took so many penalties and had not much power play. Phillips looked good on PP2 so need more power plays. Overall good game. |

And considering we had 6 minor penalties and 4 in the 1st period, 9:21 is not too bad. So much for the Darryl bashers who claimed he wouldnt play him. |

Phillips moved the puck well and had a nice feed to Mangiapane who rang one of the post.
We all love LOOCH and he has been a true warrior but it's time to move over and make room for youth. |

My internet here is so spotty right now, I missed the last 2 games. How was Phillips? I know from watching him with Victoria, he was a dominant player. I’d expect him to be a decent top 9 once he adjusts to the league. |

That was a well played hockey game that certainly deserved a fairer ending.
The Leaf player absolutely embellished the extent of the Huberdeau high stick and the Leafs were handed the game on a silver platter.
The Leafs embellished their way to three straight power plays in the first period.
I see very few embellishment penalties but many borderline hooking and cross checking penalties.
The league needs to make some effort to deal with the growing tide of embellishment or the diving and " selling" of penalties will cheapen the fabric of the game. |

Did you really think it was a well played game? I thought both teams were sloppy and the goaltending was terrible. |
