That was a well played hockey game that certainly deserved a fairer ending.

The Leaf player absolutely embellished the extent of the Huberdeau high stick and the Leafs were handed the game on a silver platter.

The Leafs embellished their way to three straight power plays in the first period.
I see very few embellishment penalties but many borderline hooking and cross checking penalties.
The league needs to make some effort to deal with the growing tide of embellishment or the diving and " selling" of penalties will cheapen the fabric of the game.

What game were you watching? The Flames didn't play well, Vladar wasn't very good, Phillips was invisible except when he was getting pushed around and as expected, Sutter barely played him. If the Flames want the refs to call fewer penalties against them, they should stop hitting people in the face with their sticks. The refs even missed the Kadri high stick at the beginning. Anyone at any level that gets a stick to the face reacts that way, even if it just smacks your visor.

As far as not playing well the Flames on a back to back took the hottest team in hockey to overtime where if given the chance they might have won.
The Huberteau high stick was oversold and that is why the Leaf player should have gotten an embellishment penalty.
Phillips deserves this shot how about we give him some space.

My internet here is so spotty right now, I missed the last 2 games. How was Phillips? I know from watching him with Victoria, he was a dominant player. I’d expect him to be a decent top 9 once he adjusts to the league.

He did fine.....nothing too noticible good or bad but clearly he can posses the puck better than anyone sitting in the press box. Ill be stunned if he's not back in tomorrow night .

I thought he was fine ... with 4 minor penalties in the 1st the non penalty killiers ice time was limited so it took us a bit to get any line rolling rythem. He had 11:57 TOI including 1:32 on the PP and he won 56% of his faceoffs..... he will get another look tonight I bet.

That's 3 pages since the Columbus game. I don't know why but maybe there aren't many Flames fans on this. I like comments and chat amongst all of us but it just doesn't happen much on here. Flamesnation has more but I do like the people here like Duran etc... so I always come here.
