Maybe he was giving the shiv to the Preds' GM by referring to him as hockey's equivalent of Fredo Corleone = "Predo" |

Most hockey people who say so and so was a star in "juniors" are referring to the CHL. If a guy played college, you would say a star in college, or a star in European leagues. Etc...
Tolvanen never played "juniors". He had a couple of strong season in US High School. Then jumped over to the KHL and AHL, where he was not a star and struggled to score.
So it might be more accurate to say..."Tolvanen was a solid goal scorer in the USHL but struggled to replicate that as he bounced between the KHL, AHL, and NHL". He'll eventually end up back in Europe. You nailed this one though. First he's getting traded for Puljujarvi, then teams are lining up to claim him on waivers, and then he slides all the way to Seattle. Good one! |

Surprisingly robust traffic the last week for discussion and commentary on low impacts like Boeser, Schenn, Piljujarvi and Tolvanen. Any trade rumors on Gustav Olafsson, Alexey Toropchenko and Brett Howden?

TSN has reported that Horvat rejected the Canucks most recent contract offer. So a trade may happen, or not. Teams include NYI, NYI, NYI, Philly, NYR, NYI, Buffalo, Colorado, Edmonton, Washington, New Jersey, Toronto and Montreal of course. Carolina makes sense on paper but isn't mentioned. Some of those teams maybe don't have the cap space, but if not, a thyroid team can solve this. |

You listed the NYI 4 times so Lou must be all in! Maybe Boeser and Schenn can come over with Bo.

I was about to say you left out Montreal but didn't scan the full list...
But seriously, Sakic and C-Mac have coveted Horvat for years. Some pretty connected Avs sources reported that they were close to Barrie+ for Horvat in 2019 at the draft days before they traded Barrie and Kerfoot for Kadri and Rosen on Canada Day/Free Agent Day. I would not at all be surprised to see them figure it out just as I wrote back in February that those same two guys had wanted Lehkonen for a couple years when everyone had the Avs as the leader for Giroux.
Plus, you know, Horvat is of Croatian descent like Super Joe so that just about seals it. |

Funny how Lou and Joe are notorious for keeping trades under wraps and now they or those around them are leaking.

Lou obviously has a mole in the organization. Ek has noted NYI is in on Horvat, Boeser, Karlsson, Kane, Toews, Chychrun, Nylander, Meier, and even Frank Vatrano. Several of these have been E3 or even E4...which means numerous sources are hearing this. Lou used to operate with a small circle of trust but now its the whole Focker family spilling the beans on his every move. |
