What does it say about Hayes and the Flyers when the teams leading scorer is a healthy scratch?
When will Ovechkin, Matthews, McDavid and Crosby be healthy scratches this year? - PLindbergh31
Here's Tortorella's answer to that

An assorted group of crackheads could run this team better than the current regime. The Flyers are the laughingstock of the NHL and no one at Comcast gives a (frank).
Oh happy day. |

Those guys play w passion so I’m guessing they won’t be scratched. Hayes is a bumm who doesn’t care about anything but himself therefore the healthy scratch is justified - Fopa21
And the Rags traded Hayes for a 1st rd draft pick. Something should have clicked with Flyers management when they saw a Rangers team desperate for centers at the time trade Hayes and a Jets team who gave up a 1st for him show zero interest in signing him. And remember Hayes stated he didn't want to come here but Flyers made an offer he couldn't refuse. Total incompetence |

It's a shame. Out of all the vet scrubs on the team out of Brown, McEwen and Sedlak. Sedlak was the best player. |

Sedlak is gone now? What happened? - Bob Habib
Who cares. You wanna talk about how bad it is to watch Nick Deslauriers and Zac MacEwen in one line up. It’s been worse watching Sedlak and Brown in one line up. I can’t believe Sedlak has sniffed the second line. |

What an absolute poop show this organization is. I was thinking the other day that they are on par with Arizona as the worst run organization in the nhl. Capped out with no coherent plan to get back to contention. Bounce from telling fans they’re re tooling to now not retooling… coach says rebuilding gm says we’re trying to make the playoffs. It’s a mess from top to bottom and we’re at the lowest point for this franchise in their history. |

Hmm
Arizona has their own 1st and 2nd plus 3 additional 3rds this coming draft and all their own picks in 2024 plus 3 additional 2nds, 2 additional 3rds and an extra 4th.
And, they aren’t capped out so they can acquire even more picks by picking up cap dumps and deadline deals. They are in much better shape than our joke of a franchise even if they play in a minor league building. |

Hayes healthy scratch. - PLindbergh31
He has to, torts takes the tanking seriously. With a win vs Devils, flyers have legroom to ice a worsened lineup. And 3 D men will start if it goes to OT. |

I considered that but they’re in a perpetual state of non contention and their actions are governed by the idea of saving money due to financial issues. They need to acquire dead contracts to get to the cap floor etc. they have lots of picks sure but once those picks develop they have to trade them. Now they play in an arena smaller than what many junior teams play in. |

From probable opening night, to missing 20 games, to practicing for 10 days, to IR.
Sounds like the farce clown show medical staff up to their old tricks again.
How many combined games will Ellis, Couturier, Atkinson play this year? - PLindbergh31
Honestly, I expect that all 3 of them are done for good. |

Hayes is an idiot. If you haven't learned your lesson after your first benching, you think he'd commit to playing harder. Worked for Konecny. See how he responds after a scratch. |

Hayes was horrendous in NJ. Getting stripped at the offensive blue line at the end of the 2nd period was brutal. If the thought is Hayes has no trade value because of the contract, no issue sitting him. Does he have trade value with retaining salary is the question. Not sure. |

Give Armstrong some time, Arizona will be further ahead than Philadelphia in a rebuild over the next couple seasons....Put his tenure with Arizona up against Chuck in Philadelphia and ask yourself who you want as a GM? |

The guy being force fed minutes by Torts decided to quit the team. You can’t make this up |

Imagine Arizona if they had the same financial resources as the Flyers, or the same history that this team constantly likes to reference as a reminder of success.
You have Flyer spokespeople drooling even this week about how close they were 12 years ago in 2010, or bringing up '97.
This team, and it's affiliated individuals live in the past. A past that does have success yes, and that's frankly the only difference (other than $) between the Coyotes/Flyers at this point. I'll laugh a little to see anyone defend otherwise, because the list of people who fall for the lies this franchise puts out are mighty small. |

It's just never going to be a happy marriage between those two and Torts will win that battle of the wills as he should. Hayes should have NEVER been signed here.

I saw some random tweet the other day from someone saying Sedlak wanted to go home and would be looking to leave asap, and reporters in his home country were the sources....didn't think much of it, until I see the Kimelman tweet it out today. Can't say it's surprising, as he left for the KHL after his time with Columbus. Given that he went from Colorado to the Flyers this season, with no guarantees on his future here, I can't really blame him for wanting to go home.
I guess that should fire up the Anisimov to the Flyers chatter - Flyerfan2868
It is like Christmas came early - waiver wire Sedlak quits, Hayes benched, hopefully Brown still out of the line-up (do not want to say injured even though that is why he is out). Of course the lump of coal in my stocking will probably be AA signing. Just play the young guys here AND on the Phantoms |

It's such a strange shift from when Hayes is being marketed so heavily, and the team loved putting out what a great locker room that was with all of his buddies together.
To now a year after 2 surgeries, and a death of his brother he is public enemy number one according to the team.
I am not a fan of Kevin Hayes the player, nor the contract but anyone that doesn't at least see the extreme shift is fooling themselves. Also makes one laugh to see how much power Torts apparently holds within the franchise after a few months. People really gobbled up that snake oil salesman routine this summer.
He's pushing for Briere because he thinks Danny is a brilliant mind? Or because he wants even more power over roster makeup. Ponder that for a second, it shouldn't take much longer.
Fletcher is a piece of trash as a GM, but people are in for a nice present when Torts has a lot of influence over the decision making of a team in 2023. |
