He doesn't possess an NHL hockey IQ. Been saying this for years.
- Phillywhiteout

Yup. He looked legit there for a bit. The kid just doesn’t have it between the ears. When Nashville gave up on him you knew he was doomed.

I've been sayin since day one that Torts and Hayes are like oil and water. It's just never going to be a happy marriage between those two and Torts will win that battle of the wills as he should. Hayes should have NEVER been signed here.
- Phillywhiteout

The HC not exactly giving a ringing endorsement of the current GM with this benching. I am totally fine with the healthy scratch and message sent. I do believe Torts has now completed the healthy scratch hat trick to Fletcher acquisitions. Risto, DeAngelo, and now Hayes. Got to let the place burn to the ground before it can be rebuilt.

What an absolute poop show this organization is. I was thinking the other day that they are on par with Arizona as the worst run organization in the nhl. Capped out with no coherent plan to get back to contention. Bounce from telling fans they’re re tooling to now not retooling… coach says rebuilding gm says we’re trying to make the playoffs. It’s a mess from top to bottom and we’re at the lowest point for this franchise in their history.

I think it is great that Totorella is calling them on the carpet by exposing the God awful moves CF has made, since he was hand-picked by the triumpherate

An assorted group of crackheads could run this team better than the current regime. The Flyers are the laughingstock of the NHL and no one at Comcast gives a (frank).

Oh happy day.

- BiggE

Yup. Like I said, you could’ve assembled a front office with random people off Broad Street and it couldn’t be much worse. Comcast is 100% asleep at the wheel. Absolutely blows my mind seeing anyone still attending these games.

I liked Sedlak's game. Thought he was one of more consistent forwards.

Torts is covering his own ass, and nothing more.

He's a guy that will take the heat off of himself, and put it on the GM. I'm not saying that's unwarranted but protecting his own legacy, and image is the play here.

Torts is smart enough to know Fletcher isn't able to make moves to help the team right now. He knew he was going to a team that was near the bottom of the NHL in terms of playable talent.

He's just making sure he doesn't take the backlash for a poor product.

John Tortorella is not some hockey genius, reformed hardass that's good with today's young athlete, or a messiah to save the Flyers. People just fell for the marketing spin this summer too willingly.

He's a dinosaur coach who will find his act wearing thin just as it always has soon enough. The team will try to protect him though, as it always does with those who cater to the image that the country club likes. That old Bullies crowd is the problem with this team, first and foremost.

The day he is fired will be a good day for this organization, most people just scared to accept the team made yet another poor HC decision.

How exactly is he taking heat off himself? If anything, torts has already exceeded expectations in the win loss column for the year. He’s playing with house money

He's very clearly put this on Chuck.

He's also more, and more willing to call out guys in the media.

Tortorella is a piece of poop head coach in 2022. Just give it time, you'll see it more clearly soon.

Sedlak goes from 1C to a terminated contracr....
Hayes benched....
ZM is on line 2....

WTAF happened to this franchise.

And now we can't even tank right...

It's hard to be excited for this franchise right now. They should have then it down kaat year and drafted as much as possible in this strong draft but instead ol feltcher traded away our second rd pick to offload ghost and then sign TDA for more money and for more draft picks

How does this clown still have a job here?
Does no one in the front office really give a poop anymore?!

These are hard times, my fellow flyers fans

Perfect storm really.

An ownership group that doesn't have a clue, advised by men who are more concerned with protecting their legacy along with an asinine identity from 50 years ago.

Tortorella fit their image of what a team should be in 2022, and their displeasure of today's "weak" athlete.

A continued refusal to truly commit to a rebuild, built on nothing but arrogance fully on display. It will either be an ownership decision to rid ourselves of the cancers, or more than likely waiting for father time. I'll bet on the latter.

The NHL is such a fast game….it’s tough for some guys to process it. To me Myers has all the tools to be a decent d man. We see the same thing some nights with Risto to be honest. I think half the game is your head. Myers has showed he can think the game just fine if he sticks to simple plays and plays with in himself. He just gets away from his game some nights and it snow balls. The last few years his confidence has to be taking a beating. He wouldn’t be the first guy to flame out after showing so much promise. Too bad.

The level of acceptable public lashings he is all too willing to doll out are already coming out. Does anyone think this is truly the way to go in 2022?

What is a development strategy that he uses other than a hard ass approach, because frankly that's all we really witness.

If people want to say that Cam York who should have been here from day one, that Frost, Zamula, Allison, and Laczynski were well handled they can do so while I will strongly disagree.

For a team that needs to focus on development, he is piss poor at doing it. He's a dinosaur, and I cannot state it better than that one word. He cannot be off the bench soon enough.

He will have his defenders I am sure, preaching about how we see improvement already. I only need to wait to see this house of cards some crashing down. Tortorella is a moron, that many teams rightfully stayed away from.

Does anyone ever interview the brass at Comcast for their take? Would be an interesting listen for their take on this once proud franchise.

This is so bad, I’m going to a gingerbread house decorating party with my girlfriend tonight!!

Sad times friends!👎🏻

3 points more than Ristolainen with just 11 games. Myers may be a lost cause. But Ristolainen an extremely overpaid average Joe D man

Imagine Arizona if they had the same financial resources as the Flyers, or the same history that this team constantly likes to reference as a reminder of success.

You have Flyer spokespeople drooling even this week about how close they were 12 years ago in 2010, or bringing up '97.

This team, and it's affiliated individuals live in the past. A past that does have success yes, and that's frankly the only difference (other than $) between the Coyotes/Flyers at this point. I'll laugh a little to see anyone defend otherwise, because the list of people who fall for the lies this franchise puts out are mighty small.

The Flyers legacy died long ago. This tradition they believe they have is their downfall.

All of it is on chuck…I’m not some huge Torts fan but he’s gotten more wins than this roster should have, regardless of it being due to goaltending or not.

Certainly has the tools, can’t teach 6’5 and athletic. He just doesn’t have it. Exactly, it is a quick game and requires quick decisions that the kid can’t make.

That means Konecny, HaZe, Couturier and Farabee is above average. Maybe Atkinson if comes back alive. JVR still has some hustle, but he look extremely slow in today's NHL.

The timing for a guy like Torts was what's bad. Not that Torts himself is a bad coach.
