So I like the discussion, because there is merit to both sides. I'm clearly on the other side.
I know our current, and highly likely scenario next season is as a Cap Floor team, but I think that quickly changes the following season ('24-25). Seems like a long ways away, but with Cozens, Dahlin, Power, Quinn, Peterka and possibly acquisitions at G and 2RhD ... that Cap Hit may be too impactful.
We'll see. - IonSabres
The cap would be an issue down the road, no question, but how many top quality teams have we seen that have been able to figure it out.
Seems like players that are on permanent LTIR like Weber and Little are traded annually to let teams ice a roster above the cap limit.
Plus there's the expected rise in the cap limit after next season.
CapFriendly has the cap limit going to $87M after next season and $92M the season after that.
The sooner extensions are signed, the better they will look when the cap really rises. |

Insane, I just don't like that it ends in penalty kicks

If Hanifin is really somehow available, I'd be in on him and Meier.
Those 2 would be a big boost to the team. - kingcong39
Yes Hanifin would be a nice get, I like Meier, fantastic hockey player. Definitely make it interesting, be surprised if Adams had the Nuggets to do it and probably would be a luxury. |

Solid post, many good points there.
Especially like the early resigning...Cozens should be next..get 'er done before this season expires. Then work on Power next off season during the new hockey year.
I also really like the Jost acquisition, so far he has found his spot. They can wait a bit on him to see what comes of the pipeline in the meantime. He certainly gives more confidence and reason to letting go of Girgs and Okposo for next season IMO. |

I also think it's only a matter of time before the non-Sabre fan Ontario resident begins coming regularly again. Dahlin and Tage are becoming must see for true NHL fans and there are a lot of them in Ontario. Border issues notwithstanding. - lacaprup
This is a good post
Unfortunately neither is Canadian. Tage or dahlin.
My Canadian season ticket friends love when a "kitchener boy" plays in buffalo.
Same goes for other Canadian players. |

The Sabres bottom 6 would be fine if the coach didnβt willingly sit the wrong players.
Krebs has been one of the Sabres best players the last few weeks. - Pegullaville
Love these , I'm smarter then the coach posts π
Asplund sucks, and belongs in the press box. |

Curious if the Sabres see any issue with meeting Jost's qualifying offer of $2.25M after this season. |

This is just out to lunch.
Dylan Cozens plays the best forwards in the NHL every home game and a fair amount of road games, too. - lacaprup
Krebs has been ok lately. Thatβs it. Nothing more
Heβs still routinely throwing passes into skates and killing O zone opportunities on a gamely basis.
The love for him by some is weird |

Have to think they do have an issue with it. Bet it's a not QO and work on an extension, without arb hanging over things.

Goalies are voodoo.
Look at the list of highest paid goaltenders in the world and tell me if you think itβs worth giving term and $$$$ to goalies. - Pegullaville
Do you just constantly repeat cliches from hockey Twitter ?
Hellebyuck and Ullmark are 1 and 3 in Sv%. Both are highly paid
#2 is Samsanov who was a first round pick.
#4 is Matt Murray who is highly paid

Asplund sucks, and belongs in the press box. - Boss34
Thanks for making the point held by many here...
Asplund, in 9 less games (-30%) mind you; has 1 more point than Zemgaff.
They have similar posession metrics and yet Asplund is playing about 17% more in the defensive zone where posession is a bit harder to achieve.
If Asplund sucks, you must really hate Zemgaff, he absolutely blows..probably blows Asplund. |

Would think they try and work out a extension at a lower Avv. Unless he doesn't want to be here. |

Asplund is a glorified ahl tweener.
Girgensons is an nhl professional
You're wrong (again) and coach don is right (again)

Beasley 1 catch 9 yards
What happened to the multi-post "4-6 catches "?

Exactly.
Teams winning, girgensons is playing his game.
Coach is making the right decisions on player personnel
Asplund must have some dynamic analytics.
Considering the group that wants him playing π€ |

Doesn't take analytics to see how bad the 4th line is playing.
