You want to spend $10m QO on a 3rd liner?
Go spend $7m on a fabulous starting Goalie instead.
Sabres are already the highest scoring team in the NHL...time to focus on limiting opportunities and stopping those that do occur. - IonSabres
The Sabres bottom 6 would be fine if the coach didn’t willingly sit the wrong players.
Krebs has been one of the Sabres best players the last few weeks.

Agree with this, still need to add or bring up someone and see if they fit for the bottom 6, there's more than 2 that should be sitting. |

Goalies are voodoo.
Look at the list of highest paid goaltenders in the world and tell me if you think it’s worth giving term and $$$$ to goalies. |

No, not $10M. He would need to agree to an extension with term.
Highest scoring team this season so far, yes.
Do we all think Tage will score 100+, Dahlin, Skinner, Tuch, and Cozens 80-90 again next season, and future seasons?
Can you ever have enough offense (think of the Avalanche)?
Meier is also a good two way player. - kingcong39
Tage, yes. Dahlin, yes. Skinner gas a track record too, and this might ve what he lools like playing so much ice time with Dahlin on the ice too. Tuch, yess too I think. He's just in his prime.

Krebs has been really impressive since getting back into the lineup. Seems like hes playing with a ton of confidence. |

The best thing that can possibly happen is for us to package one of Mitts/Olofsson amongst other pieces for a d-man.
A) allows Donnie to play someone better suited for a bottom 6 role (addition by subtraction)
B) gets the team more depth on defence which needs to improve. |

Then at what price? What Term.
His Salary for the last contract year was put in there to drive a high contract following the current one, right?
7 x $8m / $8.5m?
Like the player alot don't get me wrong. I think the money can be better spent in other areas like 2RhD and 1G

Agreed for the most part. I think they need a little bit different mix.
Harder players to play against is a need, guys like that are friggin invaluable in PO...I know these are Lightning players, but going to 3SCF in 3 years is a good barameter to use...
-Gourde
-Paul
-Coleman
-Goodrow
All played critically important styles in the PO's.
Sabres need some of those styles in their lineup.

$7m is not the top of the scale anymore...without looking it up, I'd say in the 2nd tier. |

Peyton Krebs has been our best defensive forward this season.
You don’t necessarily need to be big and strong to be good defensively.

The Don strikes again in knowing how to bring along young players at a pace that suits them well.
Said it many times earlier this season when the masses were on a near fire-Donnie roll for his rotation method..
Krebs has better production at his stage than another guy who the Sabres traded for many years ago who went on to play so, so...Daniel "Mr Playoffs" Briere.
Development curves differ. |

I didn't say that at all.
I did say "hard to play against" LW specifically for several weeks now.
Unless you don't watch the PO's, there is no dispute that the physicality ramps up then.
Having a roster upfront full of softies presents a challenge to overcome. Add another layer to L3 that can help distribute that pushback from Cozens, Tuch and Tage would be a good thing.
Krebs can play his style at 3C so there really isn't an issue with him from my perspective. |

He'd cost $8M or more long term.
I understand your approach, and it's likely the one the team will take, but I'd be looking to make a big move at forward and on defense.
For me, it is time to go for it. |

This is just out to lunch.
Dylan Cozens plays the best forwards in the NHL every home game and a fair amount of road games, too. |

If Hanifin is really somehow available, I'd be in on him and Meier.
Those 2 would be a big boost to the team. |

So I like the discussion, because there is merit to both sides. I'm clearly on the other side.
I know our current, and highly likely scenario next season is as a Cap Floor team, but I think that quickly changes the following season ('24-25). Seems like a long ways away, but with Cozens, Dahlin, Power, Quinn, Peterka and possibly acquisitions at G and 2RhD ... that Cap Hit may be too impactful.
We'll see. |

Very much so. Palat was a gamer for that team for more of their run, but hose other guys played a huge role indeed.
It was a very good mix of styles, one I'd like to see the Sabres emmulate... they seem to have a bevy of skill guys coming through, fewer of the hard to play against guys. |
