agree on NZ but JVR was first man back, he needed to take the open and most dangerous player, he went left, but Frost was slow on that play and all 3 were in a still V in the NZ, super easy to navigate through - wcorvette
I can see what you're saying. It's supposed to be a 1-2-2 but JVR is all the way over towards Frost creating the passing lane up the middle. JVR turns and puck watches. Both players need to be quicker and more aware.

Bill Meltzer: Wrap: Flyers Lose to Rangers, 6-3; Phantoms Lose 2-1 in OT to P-Bruins - bmeltzer
So let's recap yesterday:
We saw a player quit the team.
We saw the leading scorer benched.
We saw Atkinson placed on IR putting his season in doubt. (With zero information with what is going on with him) As per usual with this team.
We saw a 17th loss in 20 games.
How would you rate the day? I'd say strong, to quite strong.
At least we can take solace in the Penguins demise. How awful are they? |

Atkinson being placed on IR does not necessarily mean that there has been any change in his prognosis. With Sedlak leaving and the short term injuries and sickness with Willman and McEwen, they needed a roster spot to call up Bellows. Atkinson can be placed retroactively which means he can come off immediately. The other players would have to be out for some time if placed on IR. It's about flexibility. |

Torts press conference-
Hayes- Yes he is our leading scorer but I can't continue to overlook things on how we want to play as a team. I think the first part is effort without the puck, then to casual on the giveaways. As we compare other players and should they sit, we need to consider that, Laughton last night was late getting back on a goal, he was also on the end of a shift but still late and seemed lazy. Is that different than Hayes? - wcorvette
Hayes looks lazy from beginning to end of all his shifts. Scott Laughton’s shorthanded goal is an example of “really wanting it”. |

Always liked JVRs game, but he does need the right linemates and to be put in the right position, just who he is, like most players, his injury might be a blessing, he might streak right to the TDL and raise his trade value. - wcorvette
All summer all I heard that from this board is he isn’t worth more than a 4th. Sure. I’m not saying he’ll bring back a Richards and Carter like haul but I’m definitely trying to get a second and maybe a modest prospect in return. |

Zero chance he brings a 2nd no less a 2nd and a prospect.. |

Thing about Hayes is he just doesn't care. He is a goofy aloof guy. |

A level below those but have to get top 3...I dont see it happening unless they get a break with the ping pong balls. They wont finish bottom 3. Blackhawks will trade Kane And Toews to go into full tank soon |

As one of the biggest proponents that Frost's ceiling is the A, super happy to see him putting it together, finally.
Hope it continues.
The goal was a snipe that was nice to see.
I guess I didn't/don't have patience.
But glad to see it after the years of waiting to see this
version of the kid that ran away with scoring in Juniors. |

BiggE I totally agree with you. For 40 years I never missed a game but I can't watch anymore. I started to lose it with the Schenn trade and then Haskol as coach. I really like Torts and he has done an amazing job with the mess he has inherited. However the team now is in the same category as the Canucks, Hawks and Coyotes. How has Cam York looked? Do you think he is here to stay? DeAngelo seems to be lost like a fart in a hail storm. |

You mean Mr. Frosty, like the soft ice cream treat. Frost shows the odd glimpse of the good stuff but is soft and if he engages he will be heading for sick bay, injured. Just do not see how much longer they can wait for this guy. |

Quote from the article "The Flyers didn't play a bad game overall, but they fell victim to the Rangers' transition game and penchant for set plays". Doesn't that constitute basically the entire game? |

Frost is not remotely soft and he's been playing well overall for weeks now. It's just a question of putting up points more consistently. Frost has played 108 NHL games. What do you mean you just do not see how much longer they can wait? LOL

The Flyers were competitive in the game just too many individual mistakes and a lack of team coverage behind it.

Whether or not Torts had done an amazing job is up for debate. I’m not disagreeing with you because I’m on the side who agrees he’s done a good job. Even as a bad team we’re not getting blown out in games. Players are being held accountable. During the first half of the season we were getting blown out in shots, now we’re staying with teams in shots but not talented enough to bury our chances. I just wish he’s get out of his own way to terms of the antics. Noah Cates as a first line center and all situations. DeAngelo playing 25 minutes a night, including PK time. Zac MacEwen in the middle six. Nick Seeler not seeing a night off. Two D, one forward 3 on 3. When dealing with the media, some of the in game stuff, fans deserve to know but he won’t answer. It’s really the fans who are the reason he’s rich. |

There is no defending Fletcher, none, zilch.
He needs to go and Bob Clarke needs to have zero say in this organization any more.
This team is run by imbeciles, either clean house or sell the (frank)ing franchise Roberts, enough is enough. Listening to the loud “let’s go Rangers” chants last night was disgusting.
To whatever fans that are left: please, for the love of all that is holy, stop buying tickets and merchandise! Plummeting revenue is the only thing that Comcast is going to notice. - BiggE
I get the "beat them up and worry about skill later" mantra. After all it won them 2 Stanley Cups. However, at some point the recent evidence (and by recent I mean the last 3-4 decades) shows that the game has changed. I can't imagine their lives are so unfulfilled that they hang on to the past with such ferocity |

Well after all these years waiting, 16 points in 55 games last year and 11 now in 31 this year, a 0.35 ppg clip is something to be happy about ? If he was a dman I could live with that but he is not. Frost has played in 108 games but has he contributed in more than a dozen of them I ask? We will just have to agree to disagree on him.

I agree Bill. Frost played well last night and has been playing well for a while now. The only issue I have is on the Panarin goal. Both he and his linemates have to be better there. To allow such an easy path through the neutral zone and to the net on a controlled breakout with the Flyers sitting in a neutral zone checking alignment is inexcusable. - MJL
Panarin was definitely Frost's man. However, I believe both defensemen were on the other side of the ice, s often happens with the Flyers, especially our "AHL special of the week" |

I think your saying its like everything else today, standards are much lower if they have any at all. Too many people just not taking pride in anything they do with their lives. People had work ethic and pride back in the day, not they are mostly struggling with personal problems brought on by a crazy world we live in. Times have changed so much that young people are born doomed. Just my opinion and it is how I see it being old as dirt now but lived through a brilliant era.
