All were in 2021. Foligno was better than JVR is today? JVR is a PPG since coming back from injury with the flyers this year.

My Ben Chiarot suggestion is if he can get a 1st then why can't JVR? GMs may like these "big hitting" dmen but they also like guys who score goals. JVR scores goals.

I'm not betting on him getting a 1st round pick, I'm saying I wouldn't be shocked if he does.

Right, it’s not impossible. I won’t be expecting it

JVR would have to have a very strong season for the Flyers to get a 1st for him. Would have to get numerous teams in a bidding war.
- MJL

Yeah, plus it’s Chuck we’re talking about here. He’s probably going to somehow get fleeced even if there is a strong market.

This is a pretty well thought out post. I looked at the trade of these players and I was blown away by the returns, all of which brought back a 1st round pick plus something else.

He already is and the Flyers have made it known he's available.

12 games played. 11 points. +3 with only 3 points on the PP. Meaning he's scoring well 5 v 5. These are all indicators of a strong season. Right now at least. If he tails off by the deadline, sure. March 3rd isn't terribly far away, 2 months.

Ristolainen has zero points in 25 games?

Another tremendous addition from Fluck Chetcher.

- PLindbergh31

But did you see that awesome turnover he had in the 1st throwing the puck in the middle of the ice in his own zone? Totally worth 5mil over the next half decade.

Chiarot was a special case. He was semi-fresh off a deep Cup run where the refs swallowed the whistles and just let teams pound and interfere on each other. In that situation, Chiarot might have seemed like he could be worth a 1st.

JVR, by contrast, doesn't have much of a recent PO history... and he's foremost a PP specialist... see the aforementioned swallowed whistles. I think he could be a luxury add for some team, but not really a high priority item.

On hockey night in Canada they were discussing JVR being available already for trade. Now, that doesn't mean he won't be traded until the deadline but they also mentioned his contract. 5 million in actual salary, 1 million already paid in a bonus. 7 on the cap hit but if the Flyers eat some or half of it they'd probably get a decent return.

I'd take a first rounder in this year or next year's draft for him. I'd take a 2nd round pick and a B prospect for him. Heck you might even get an A level prospect.

I wouldn't put too much into unsubstantiate rumors. Teams aren't likely to be looking to make a move for someone like JVR at this point of the season. Look at the cap picture around the league. JVR is known to have inconsistent seasons. How many games are there between now and March 3rd?

- Aaron_85

It’s tough to compare a forward to a dman. Justified or not, Chiarot plays in the top 4.

Imo , FLA giving up a 1st,a 4th and a prospect for Chiarot was an own goal for FLA. They didn’t win the Cup.

Boy, people sure do have huge balls on this site. This literally doesn’t answer what he being Canadian has to do with anything you’ve said.
- SuperSchennBros

seriously, this is what you're going to engage with me about.

Let me spell it out to you mr. canadian PC sensitivity representative!

There is a movie called the Big Lebowski.

There is a line about a "Chinaman: pissing on a rug.

The joke is Dude, "Chinaman is not the proper nomenclature, Asian American"

That is the line....

The term Midget (which does not bother you mr PC language police) was used as Frost being a "soft midget"....I twisted the movie line to fit what was about a midget. Since again frost was born in Canada and is Canadian I was substituting Canadian for American.
I sure hope I have availed myself with use of the word Canadian mr word sensitivity Police.

My subtle attempt at humor to those that know the movie will escape simpletons like you.

My bad.

The numbers and (from here) the eye test said differently. Made a lot of subtle good plays all night.

At least he shot the puck. This is one thing that, if I were coaching him, I would be continuing to drive home with Frost because I honestly think he over-passes the puck, always looking for the cute play versus straight line to the net, cock and fire the puck. It almost like he has Jake Voracek disease. I hope this goal against the Rangers gives Frost confidence to shoot more.

So let's recap yesterday:

We saw a player quit the team.
We saw the leading scorer benched.
We saw Atkinson placed on IR putting his season in doubt. (With zero information with what is going on with him) As per usual with this team.
We saw a 17th loss in 20 games.

How would you rate the day? I'd say strong, to quite strong.

At least we can take solace in the Penguins demise. How awful are they?

The only thing worse than the Flyers play is are these everyday comments you make. I’m about ready to pay a prostitute and send her to your house, so you’ll lighten up. Every comment, the next one more obnoxious than the last.

I hope that he does get Jake Voracek disease. Voracek has been one of the top playmakers in the league for a long time. He doesn't overpass the puck. Frost has made enough quality plays to have a lot more points than he currently does.

Well, we can agree on one thing, Frost is playing with good players right now so there are no more excuses, he either puts up points or he doesn't. As far as his neutral zone play, I could care less. Frost's future in the NHL is as a point producer, not a defensive specialist. That is why in hockey you have 2 D and a goalie, to make up for mistakes from your top offensive players.

The Flyers can cover some remaining salary to mitigate this concern if they need to. If JVR continues to play this well on a bad team, there will be a market for him come the deadline. JVR is still one of the best net front PP players in the league. I think the other player you have to watch is Hayes. The fact that neither he or Torts is talking says a lot. Torts so far this season has not declined to talk about a situation which tells me the issue was resolved between he and the player. This seems very different. I think Hayes may be the first to go this season.

Most players need to be defensively responsible and play well away from the puck to be a good team. Frost is never going to be a high enough point producer to remove his responsibilities away from the puck. He's not Patrick Kane.

Is this a new development in not caring about his play away from the puck?

The context of the conversation is not whether there will be a market for JVR at the deadline. It's if the Flyers can get a first round pick for him.

First off Tortorella has talked about the situation and secondly, Hayes has very little trade value and is not a likely player to be trade in season. Anything is possible but not likely.

I don't have the context of what was said, but apparently Yandle fired shots at Torts for benching his buddy Hayes. The country clubbers are up in arms. Big whoop!
