I think the limited minutes were partly due to Martin being in the box for 5. Not sure who they would have double-shifted to get onto his wing. Barzal?

That’s what he is missing, driving the net and shooting. The opposing team pking knows he isn’t shooting so they play him for the pass and then squeeze him into a TO.
