I had seats on the glass for yesterday’s game …right beside penalty box. The one thing I came away with is the speed Frost is able to make plays at….both him and Tippet. I will never question Frost’s skating again…it’s not average…it’s well above. The Leafs definitely keyed on him when he had the puck, but I came away with the belief that Frost has a chance to produce in this league. - landros 2
appreciate your first hand feedback, probably easier to notice the little things Frost does live and his speed, he started playing better when he started using his speed and skating more. Of course they key on him, only handful of players any team needs to key on with the Flyers. I always said JVR gets a raw deal, he has great hands and uses them in the O and D zone very well.

Frost has been 3rd among forwards in ice time the last 2 games. We'll see if that changes after the Torts presser. I really don't want to see the argument for Frost to crap on Cates. That makes no sense to me. This team needs as many under 25 yr old players to show they are viable. Like others, I would like to see Cates moved back to wing, but looks like it won't happen this season. |

Let me see if I understand correctly. The coach is ruining Frost by having too high expectations of him and criticizing him for not playing up to those expectations? Also, the coach is an idiot for saying Frost is playing poorly because he’s actually playing really good? So, the coaches transparent and old fashioned efforts to manipulate the player are stupid and won’t work and the evidence is that Frost is playing well? |

Fair. I guess I it didn't bug me as much because he followed up saying "I'm just trying to find any offense out there".
He was asked about one player specifically and gave a specific answer to that player. - Pelle31Forever
So, he commented on the player who has 8 points in the last 10 games and has also made key plays on at least two other goals scored by the Flyers in the same time frame.

I thought Risto played good yesturday…got running around a bit…fell for the fake…tried to block shot. Other then that …it’s nit picking. - landros 2

The Sabres got really lucky with how TNT has turned out. Catching Mario Lemieux vapors from this kids play. |

No, they didn't have to switch sides. Ristolainen's bonehead play caused Provorov to have to cover Ristolainen's man. Ristolainen then compounded it by puck watching behind the net. - MJL
I don't see any puck watching here. You could argue that Risto should not have gone behind the net there, but I really don't think that was a bonehead play by Risto. The problem there was both Provey and Risto ended up the behind the net and on their opposite sides and that was too much for the rest of the Flyers to cover. Risto worked hard to get back into the play, but was just too late. |

Microcosm of the entire team really.
Yet Frost was the only one singled out by the coach. - Tomahawk
Because he as asked by the media in post game about why Frost was moved up to play with Farabee and Tippet and Torts rightly responded that Frost had a brutal game for the most part, which is absolutely true. The media keeps asking Torts about Frost, Farabee, Risto and Hayes trying to get a reaction out of him. |

The coach is as much of a used car salesman as the GM is - MJL
There it is ... Torts doesn't like Frost, who for the most part had an awful game, therefore he is a used car salesman :-) |

Risto is fine, playing much better this year than last year. Haters are just going to hate. |

No Ristolainen did not work hard to get back in the play. He was the behind the play the entire shift beginning with when he was trailing the puck carrier with the puck in left corner. He stopped skating and moving his feet then also and was lazily lunging at the puck. He clearly stopped skating and stood stationary behind the net watching the player that Provorov had to go over and cover. He had zero sense of anticipation. Where is the puck going Risto? Perhaps to the front of the net? LOL. If you did an MRI of his brain, it would be a picture of a brick. He was absolutely brutal on that shift and that goal. He literally had three potential opportunities to end the play. One in the left hand corner. Another if he had just kept his position and not chased over to Provorov's check and the 3rd when he was late getting back out front. The replay is crystal clear.
Ristolainen is not capable of reading and anticipating. He reacts after the fact and is always late. The majority of his hits are after a play is made. His fake toughness around the net is after scoring chances or goals. He has been this way his entire career. It is why he is a mediocre player. No coach can fix that. |

Read Bill Meltzer's post game wrap up. He echoes with the same comments that I made earlier on Frost's play. A coach with any sense bypasses singling out a player if he feels like the entire team was poor and not single out a player who was one of the better players in the game for the team.

Hyperbole. It's not based on one situation. It's based on Tortorella's performance as a whole to date. |

Hyperbole. Frost won an offensive zone draw leading to a goal for York. Yesterday he bunted the puck to Konecny to start a rush leading to goal. Simple facts. Both quality plays.

He is still the same old mediocre player. He should be scratched.
