Katchouk just has to be a little smarter. Didn't hurt the team too much tonight. Like the energy, but he has to temper it more |

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays all. |

Merry Christmas all!
Here's to an exciting 2023, lots of trade rumors and a few good trades for the Hawks.
Will be interesting to see who is still here after the dust settles at the TDL.
Who get called up from the AHL and who comes in. Hoping for a few new exciting players the Hawks can give a chance to and can excel, given a change of place and more minutes!
All the best over the holidays! |

For those in the Chicago area, NBCSN will broadcast replays of all three Cup winning games beginning 130 pm Christmas day. |

From the last blog, yes Wiz, a league that counts hits, PIMs and blocks is considered a banger's league. I hope you utilize Dobber's site for fantasy hockey. The bible and a mountain of daily info. There is so much info be sure to click around the site. https://dobberhockey.com/
And yes, IMO that was a good article by Laz comparing here the Hawks and Preds are as organIzations. IMO no doubt a rebuild is the right way to go in CHI and the Preds would have been better off too instead of long term contacts to an older core that hasn't won anything. Not like they are the Pens or WSH with older guys who have won. - Mr Ricochet
I am glad you added this here, because I now cannot find a way to go to the older Zack blogs. never been on Dobber, but I do fare well in Fantasy hockey b/c I draft well.
I do not like most people in Tennessee, or the "smashville" bull feathers, or the opposing goalies name chant with the, "you suck!", even if the game is tied, u dumbasses, then you are saying YOUR goalie sucks too!
But I wondered if they had added a bonafide star UFA, if things would brighten up for them.

N J Devils defenders Luke Hughes and Simon Nemec
4th overall. 2nd overall

I´ll pick New Jersey because of the potential. Both of those two might become 1st pair d´s one day and so I have to pick them.

I figure that would be the popular choice.
I don't think Hughes is more than an offensive man so far I thought Dylan Guether was top two pick because of his scoring and Cooley is the real deal too. |

Leo Carlson wearing #21, Sveden v Austria. Thru 1 period, 2-zip, Svedes. US plays Latvia next at 3:00 central time, Canada v Czechia at 5:30. http://onhockey.tv/index....portbro&channel=900393029 - Mr Ricochet
Everybody does have to remember that most 18 yr old Europrospects who scouts think are potential really high draft picks don't get automatic Jesus status on the under- 20 World Junior roster, thus lots of already drafted guys, playing in larger roles, just as Connor Bedard played behind the older guys and stood out.
We will get glimpses of of many of the "kids" , but if you want to see the draft class, you get better chances watching them playing in the age group tourneys like the World U-18 Hlinka.
Sure we ARE going to see plenty of Fantilli, Bedard, and the prospects we will want in Kaner trades and how are own kids fare.

No doubt, in the Hlinka ad WJC U-18 tournaments every player is draft eligible but in the WJC U-20 most players have been drafted but a few are draft eligible. Pronman's watch list rankings of draft eligibles in the WJC U-20 tournament we are watching now.
A 2023 draft-eligible watch list/ranking
Connor Bedard, C, Canada
Adam Fantilli, C, Canada
Leo Carlsson, C, Sweden
Eduard Sale, LW, Czechia
Samuel Honzek, LW, Slovakia
David Reinbacher, RHD, Austria
Dalibor Dvorsky, C, Slovakia
Charlie Stramel, C, USA
Axel Sandin-Pellikka, RHD, Sweden
Gavin Brindley, RW, USA
Lenni Hameenaho, RW, Finland

Those three guys are in contention for early selection, but I am betting they are second rounders.
Martin Misiak later
and Trey Augustine is maybe a top half dozen goalie selection.
I will say this may be a close eyeballing of Dalibor Dvorsky after he has tumbled in the ranks...he was so dominant at the start...this might help win back some teams... |

Forget drafting Bedard.
Draft everyone off the Czechia roster. And Canada’s Blackhawk led defense has given up 5 goals in 30 minutes. So we’ve got that going for us! |

Typical Canada.
Terrible goaltending, undisciplined play, trying to run guys through the end boards, whining to the refs on every call, and every non-call, head hits, etc.

Hey Wiz, or anyone else interested in prospects, Elite Prospects just put out their first discussion panel talking about and ranking prospects for the 2023 draft.
https://www.youtube.com/w...ab_channel=EliteProspects - Mr Ricochet
Everybody can make there own judgements but these wiper snappers seemed to have simply ignored the Russian factor, in some ways I hope the draft goes their way before the Blackhawks select with Tampa pick and second round Hawk pick because they board have my picks dropping into the Blackhawk's lap.
Aall those folks have what is take to watch the players well, and I think they will continuing this group mock monthly?
I have the full access on Elite, and soon after I posted on this very board how Kevin Korchinski is passing other defenseman and going to go high (I think I said maybe Ducks might scoop him wherever they picked even though no one has him that high) I went and read the Elite game by game criticisms like his turns to one left swivels and they really picked apart stuff that long term seemed relevant.
just saying

A wise coach might have considered 1) how to counter the over confidance and 2).better mental preparation. We all know nearly always is sports the team has to get a rude awakening then come together. Of course bad goaltending doesn't help. Why bad goaltending thus game - could be both reasons above or just the jitters on a big stage
I am a big fan of what Kaiser showed he was before his surgery. I wonder if he is completely recovered and confidant upon returning from that surgery. If he is off a bit, though, perhaps he isn't making the roster. And btwis each dman playing their natural side on defence? |

I don't think we can pinned this one on the Hawk demean as much as the super hyped Owen Zellweger, and LAs Clarke.
Clarke's been afforded the luxury of playing with pros and maybe you cannot assume your under 20 peers play like NHL vets
DelMaestro was on the ice for one goal
For what I can discern from the clips as I am not at home were I am taping it (and Rectum cable has NHL channel as one of the one you cannot watch away from home)
their starting seven are
2 Nolan Allen. one for one
3 Owen Zellweger minus one 5on5 but on for several pp goals
4 Tyson Hinds
5 Brant Clarke. minus one 5on5 but on for several pp goals
24 Ethan DelMaestro. one for two
25Kevin Korchinski EVEN
27 Jack Matter
So I don't the Hawk defenders hit any Czech in the head for five minute penalty.
the defense only took penalty Dean got 27 minutes, Nathan Gaucher 4, fantilli 2 late in the game.
Canada's goaltending was very good, there was little flow after various penalties.
