Everyone these days drools & marvels over McD but Bure was easily the 1st & best at electrifying a crowd. McD never ceases to amaze but Bure got ppl outta their seats every time he touched the puck. Taking nothing away from McD but he never scored at Bure’s rate but there is still time. Bure simply started scoring at a crazy rate. |

No he will not, he will at some point get tired of the losing and be traded away where he will become the player the canucks thought they were getting.. Sedins and bure are the greatest canucks of all time. |

Orr was far more dominant than anyone as a puck carrier. Even more amazingly as a dman. Bure might be equal to McDavid as a threat carrying the puck in open ice and better finishing. McDavid is a far superior overall player with his playmaking and even defensively compared to Bure. |

WTF was Philly thinking in 2017. Looking at who was drafted after Patrick, that entire management team should be fired. All the scouts wanted Makar. Man, how that would've changed things
2. Philly - Nolan Patrick
3. Dallas - Miro Heiskanen
4. Colorado - Cale Makar
5. Vancouver - Elias Pettersson - AlfieisKing
I followed that draft all year. Hishier and Patrick were the clear top-2 that year. We were penciling in Hishier/Patrick into our lineups for the next year until we lost the draft lottery. Then I was hoping Heiskanen would fall even though he was pretty clearly the #3. After the top-3 though it was wide open. Maker was ranked anywhere from 5-15, same with Pettersson. Makar coming from a junior A league, and although Pettersson impressed in Sweden that year, he was very skinny, about 150 lbs, people weren't sure if either could make it in the NHL.
It's easy to say in hindsight that "the scouts" wanted Maker or Pettersson, but at the time they had huge question marks. |

He's going to have to pass Trevor Linden, Bure, Mogilny, Kesler, the Twins, Naslund, Bertuzzi, Luongo, Ronning, McClean and arguably Quinn Hughes. The kid has a long way to go. - Only_A_Ladd
Don't forget Tony Tanti. |

The majority of the Canuckland fan base wanted Cody Glass at that draft, and Jim Benning was an idiot for taking another Swede as far as they were concerned.
Good times. |

Petri Skriko might be the best 8th round pick ever.

Our scouts wanted Makar, but our genuis GM hextall went with his pick Patrick, and the rest is history(like both of them not being in the poopshow organization)

That’s what Bobby Clarke says happened. I subsequently read that Bobby Clarke was misremembering (or, trying to throw darker shade than actually was true). The scouts wanted heiskanen… the suggested pick was never Makar. Classic Bobby Clarke exaggerating to throw someone else under the bus. Anyway, heiskanen would’ve been way better… but the narrative that Philly ever had a shot at Makar on their roster is both more insulting that it needs to be to Hextal and insulting to the avs franchise that is owed it’s due. My post here is not a criticism of you… what you state was reported… widely…. but up here in Canada where I embarrassingly read deep on all hockey… it was quickly debunked as Clarke memoralizing the greatness of the scouting staff beyond reality (and just an old guy thinking, we were gonna take the D man, so it must have been the better of the two we were gonna take … that was never the case) |

I heard about hesk also either one wouldve been a better pick and a cornerstone type dman.
They shouldve done more due diligence on Patrick but sadly it appears that wasn't done. People don't just develope migrianes, usually it is something they have dealt with most of there life. Drafting someone at no2 with a medical condition just reeks of not doing your homework on the player.
