Even with the break coming up, there is no reason to start Hart tonight.
Also, Risto needs to sit, he’s been flat out awful. There is little chance that Seeler could be any worse. |

Merry Christmas Bill. Quick question. What teams have surprised you by how good they are playing and what teams are worse than expected ? |

I don’t get the hate. Sanheim was on the ice for more goals against yesterday. I see more close calls when DeAngelo is on the ice. |

Bill Meltzer: Flyers Gameday: 12/23/22 @ CAR - bmeltzer
Canes are due for a loss... this may be a trap game before the Holiday Break; back home, with kids/family awaiting them and Santa on Cristmas eve, and a far inferior team in the barn as an opponent. Flyers give fans an early present with huge upset on the road. If anybody wants me, I'll be in the local rest home trying to get my faculties back in order.
Wishing all Flyers fans and thier loved ones a glorious Christmas/Holiday in the spirit of what it represents... and a happy and healthy upcoming new year filled with love and PEACE for all... and thanking Bill for all he does for us on a daily basis, wishing him and his family all the best going forward.
GO, FLYERS!!!!!!!!! |

Let him play and let the losses pile up.
He sucks and as such he should play top line minutes every single game

I wasn't expecting the Devils to improve as much as they have. Expected more from Colorado (but injuries have been a huge factor). |

Here are my comments today on Frost's play in the Toronto game.
https://www.hockeybuzz.co...p?thread_id=181805&page=4
"Frost played considerable time against Marner and Taveras and had some shifts against Matthews. Not a matchup I would expect to win. Yet Frost was one of only two forwards above 50% in corsi and was even in scoring chances. Was on the ice for two goals for and zero against. Scored a goal and made a play to help on another goal. He was third among all Flyers forwards in ice time. 50% on draws."
Here are Bill's comments on Frost on the Flyers site
"A least by the numbers, apart from three giveaways, Frost was one of the Flyers' more effective forwards against Toronto despite being in very challenging matchups; Frost played considerable time against John Tavares Marner and Mitchell Marner and also played a couple of shifts against Auston Matthews.
Nonetheless, Frost was one of only two Flyers forwards above 50 percent in Corsi for the game and was even in on-ice scoring chances for/against. In the third period, Frost scored a goal and made a play (initially given an assist and then taken away) to help on Farabee's goal. Frost, who was third among all Flyers forwards in ice time, also broke even on faceoffs (10-for-20). He was credited with one takeaway, one hit and six shot attempts (three on net). Considering how infrequently the Flyers had the puck for two-and-a-half periods, the player's individual body of work for the day was one of the better ones on the team."

The pairings would have to be changed but either Seeler or Braun should be playing over Ristolainen.

How dare tou use statistical facts to prove that Frosty is a real NHL level talent!!
These unwarranted frost haters in here don't want your facts!
Frost is the real deal and hopefully this is the tip of his iceberg for him.
I really hope that his play shuts a lot of haters here up. Goals in consecutive games and his drive to win and score and even play the right way has been very noticeable!
Leave frosty alone!! The kid (who missed 2 seasojs between injury and covid) is playing solid hockey
And for the JVR haters as well.... his presence has helped both frost and Tippett succeed and elevate their game
Wow... it's amazing what frost can do with actual NHL talent this year, huh?
They set him up to succeed, Torts gave him some tough love, and frost took it and is running with it! |

I'm not prepared to say that Frost has arrived and is now a mainstay. I need to see some consistency with overall play and points over a large sample of games. There is no question that he has the skill and talent to be a good NHL player.

One of my few silver linings this year, particularly in the past 2 weeks, has been frost emerging as an NHL talent. His play both with and away from the puck has been very good. He has mistakes, just like 100% of NHL players, but he seems confident.
How many games does he need to keep this pace or keep this effort level to consider gim and NHL talent?
Also, what happens when JVR is traded? |

Hos actual production is up and now recognizable, but the reality is that he has been getting and creating the same level of chances and playing well for quite a while. The puck is going in now. It needs to be more than just a hot streak though. He needs to build on it and continue to gain confidence.

The only reason this may be a game is because the Canes are playing 3 in 4 nights. Problem is, so are the Flyers.
