I am expecting a hard-fought game tonight. Blues have been a little off and play down to their opponents at times. A good old goalie fight would make for some fun.
Trying not to get to excited about the possibility of getting Bedard, but wow that kid oozes talent and big game play. Tank on!! . Hawks WIN !! tonight 3 to 2 in OT Kane with the winner .. |

Lafreniere healthy scratched tonight by the Rangers tonight. If offered up as part of the return in a Kane deal, would you take him, or is he the next Jonathan Drouin? |

You try your best to not think about him in the Indian head sweater but then games like last night happen and you just cant help but play the what if game.
Either way hes going to be fun to watch once he makes the jump to the NHL

That would be an interesting add on to any deal, I wouldnt hate the idea of bringing on another talented young player who might just need a change of scenery. However, you have to wonder if more draft picks would be more valuable to the Hawks rebuild. If that makes sense.

I think a first would be thrown in there as well since we will have to make the salary work
I doubt they are trading him, but I've been wrong a lot lately when it comes to the business side of hockey |

I don't think the Hawks want to become too good too fast and want to ensure at least one more very high pick in 2024. If Laffy is obtained in the Kane deal and Bedard is drafted and they both light it up resulting in some wins next year, the Hawks may not get that 2024 high pick. But I would take a chance on him.

Agree with you with 2 of your 3 points… however I doubt Bettman gives us the first pick based on the Beach Scandal.

Didn't the BOD decide they want no more trades for the cast-offs from other teams? |

Davidson will channel his inner Stan Bowman and seek out a 1st round pick reclamation project.
Edit - Win win sutuation. If Laffy doesn't improve over the next couple of years, Hawks stay near the bottom of the standings and get a high pick in 2024. If he develops, one less top 6 forward needed going forward. |

I'd take him. not a blazer but nice shirt area quickness and a ton of smarts, and has a quick receive and send in the attack zone, |

Zach say for argument sake Kane goes to the Rangers and signs a extension then I would be wanting cully or ottman in the deal along with laff plus the lower of the two 1st and a 2nd either in 2023 or 2024. Now hawks might have to offer something else besides 50 % retained. Also I think Laff and kappo are busts or don't fit in with gallants system. |

Gotta think Laf paired with either a Bedard (if he plays centre in the NHL) or a Fantilli would be pretty sweet. Reichel on the other wing. Could be a fun young line. Or a Kane. He might be interested in resigning after a cup run if that line were an option for him to continue to get points. |

I'd take any young "high-end" talent right now. Just so I have someone I can enjoy watching during these absolutely trash games.
At least play Phillips so I can focus on him and ignore the rest of subpar guys on the ice. At least during the ABC line dark ages there were some so so young guys you could root for and hope for development.
Nothing on this current squad.

Gonna be interesting to see when KD decides it's time to bring back young NHL talent in trades as opposed to just draft picks or Lafferty types. This yr, next or longer?
I agree they don't wanna get too good too fast so as to draft high at least next yr but you don't want to limit returns and miss out on opportunities to add real talent to the organIzation.
Was thinking if the Hawks draft 3 or 4 and are too concerned with the risk of drafting Michkov and don't see Carlson as generational would KD trade down? Gather a couple more 1sts in a deep draft?

I think you take him. Doesn't fit the kind of skater that they've been targeting but it's not like he's a plodder.
Could probably extend for a low price. Not like there would be anyone to get him the puck straight away so I don't think it would impact much. Even with Bedard in the line up - and just look at the Ducks - if the D sucks and goaltending is suspect regardless of talent up front you're still gonna be at the bottom.
