We can look through the history of the draft and see misses all over the place. Is JVR what you would want or expect with a player taken 2nd overall? Picking a player in the top 10 in the draft, I would want and expect a player to be a top player in the NHL. I think that ship has sailed on Tippet. Doesn't mean he can't be a solid player but he's not a player who is going to wind up a top player in the league at this point. - MJL
This is an incredibly foolish statement, if you had said top 5, I can get behind that but players picked outside of the top 5 absolutely should not be Expected to be top players in the league such as a mikko rantanen. You can hope, you should not be expecting this. If it were that easy the Flyers wouldn’t suck so bad. |

Weren't Provy and Coots at 8?

Looking at more recent drafts, 2016-2018, the only comparable to Rantanen is Matthew Tkatchuk selected in the 6-10 range. To expect a player like Rantanen in that range is laughable |

Could Hart/Ersson be a strong combo going forward? I believe Sandstrom is not waiver exempt. I would like to see Ersson get at least another 15 games to see how he develops. The irony of the team being terrible, but having potentially 2 viable goaltending options that they drafted. |

You're still badly confused. You stated that I was proven wrong. Nothing you posted here proves me wrong it just offers a difference of opinion. One that I disagree with. I doubt that you don't realize that you just proved yourself wrong.

Yea, what’s your point? Provy was same draft as Rantanen. Probably the strongest draft in the past decade. More often than not, you’re not getting a player like Rantanen there. Provy is also not in the same category |

You didn't seem to comprehend that Rantanen was just used as an example to aim higher for a top 10 pick than for the caliber of player Tippet currently is. I also clarified and agreed with you that Rantanen was a home run.

One of the best picks ever at #10 isn’t a good comparable for a player picked in that range, it’s an outlier. |

I’m not gonna list everyone name by name but a large majority of fans on this board want us to lose and receive the best possibility of winning the first overall pick. I understand this, whether I agree with it or not. What I want is progress. I don’t want to relive this current state of the team next season or the season after.
I’ll say this, I like John Tortorella as long as his words do not contradict his actions. Noah Cates scoring his first goal in 20 games, while acting as our first line center is terrible. I’m not a Hayes guy but he’s basically playing 3rd line wing and now his production struggles because of it. We’re losing regardless. So can we please lose in away that shows us what we might be looking forward to next season? It’s one thing to not like Hayes because he glides and doesn’t give enough effort. It’s another argument to cut his legs out from under him. He’s still a good offensive player and I think we need to live with his flaws at center. |

I still don’t know why anyone argues with Chef Blowhard-ee in here.
Don’t they realize they’re wrong before they even type anything? 🤦♂️ |

Well here lies the problem. We have a 22 year old 5 million per before he earned it. - SuperSchennBros
It's just how the league is now. Guys get paid coming off ELC if they're even remotely promising and productive. I don't mind the Farabee deal. |

It's an example, even if it is in the higher range. Now if I had said that the Flyers were factually going to get a top player with the 10 pick guaranteed, then you might be right. I didn't say that. In fact I stated that the draft is a crapshoot and even detailed how often there are misses higher up in the draft such as the 3rd pick.

Yes.
Take TK for example. Lot of people balked at giving a 49-point player $5.5Mx 6, but it's an overpayment until it isn't. TK's worth probably $7M-8M right now the way he's playing, right? The next couple of seasons are gonna be a huge surplus in the Flyers' direction.
Sanheim is the opposite case. His cap hit wouldn't be over $6M today if they hadn't cheaped out and bridged him coming off his ELC. He'd be making closer to $4.5M or something. |

It’s not that I didn’t like the TK signing because I think he signed the deal after his 60 point season (might have to fact check me), I just didn’t like how he held out all that summer to suck the following two seasons. |

Do you think it’s time to give John Tortorella and his coaching staff a little credit? Risto last year was absolutely awful on the penalty kill. He is miles ahead of where he was last year and he was a monster last game to Owen Tippett is really starting to show what he can do, TK is 1000% better than he has been in past seasons Scott lot in his scoring power-play goal. Shorthanded goals playing still very well. 515 Noah Cades for the big shorthanded goal yesterday much more evidence do we need before we start giving John Tortorella some credit for what he’s doing with this roster? |
