Right. They need 2 guys to add to the pp that are shooters/pp producers. The personnel hasn't been changed or added to in any meaningful way. And yes, unfortunately Wally isn't that guy. - Mancalledsting
Dobson’s maturation has helped. Imagine if we didn’t have him. Not really sure what’s running through their minds when they are not moving, completely motionless, and not moving the puck on the PP? If it were an occasional thing I wouldn’t mention it. This has been a five season thing |

If they could find a way to make it work with the cap, Vrana is on waivers on would be a very good pickup. His $5.25M cap hit (it wouldn't be that much, it'd be prorated) would be a bit tough to squeeze in but sending Johnston to the minors (and ideally having him scooped up off waivers) would create $1M in additional space
Unlikely that a) they want to use significant cap space on him and b) he doesn't get claimed by a team below the Isles in the standings. But he'd be a good add. |

Interesting idea. Didn’t realize they put him on waivers. Like you said I doubt they want to use significant cap space on him but he’s “free” so that makes him more attractive. |

It seems as though the entire hockey world is surprised by it as well. |

What are we going to get back for Beauvillier? |
|
|
|
He was in the Players Assistance Program. Drug issues? Mental health? He hasn't said.

Nobody knows.
But perhaps Vrana was waived because:
A) Stevie knows contenders can’t afford him.
B) Stevie knows the basement dwellers wanna win Bedard, and Vrana won’t help them accomplish that.
C) Stevie knows that his reputation as a brilliant GM, will make any pretender afraid to claim a player that Stevie himself is “willing” to give up for nothing. |

I don’t think that kid is going to be a bust. I doubt very much Drury trades him. I think Ranger fans are nuts that believe trading him now is a good idea. |

I hope to God that Drury DOES trade him. Then we’ll all get the satisfaction of watching him blossom somewhere else. |

Two high #1 picks and struggling forwards. It's perfect. We need more of these type of trades.

"Suck hard for Bedard!" We're not even in the conversation. 1 in 200 chance doesn't cut it! We need more games like we played against Seattle and Arizona. Start tonight against the Canucks. You can do it, Islanders! |

Not sure if they have it in them. Though I have complete confidence in them to potentially miss the playoffs and get a mid round pick |

Winnable games. Varlamov seems to take a few games to adjust after coming back. I’m sure that has more to do with whatever he injured. Hopefully he doesn’t need it this time because he’ll be playing at least one of these next three. |

Stuck in mediocrity. That's been their curse, other than the 2 deep playoff runs. |

Maybe that would wake them up...
Canucks are skating circles around them. They're just so much quicker... |
