Nice win after an abortion of a first period
Bailey looked especially rough last night. Raty's got a hell of a shot, hopefully he can make the team full-time next year...although I'm not entirely sure where he's going to fit if they are intent on keeping him at center. - eichiefs9
I think Lambert’s willingness to throw cizikas on the wing tells you their position on that. Never thought I would see that happen but good on lambert it seems to be working for the time being and that’s all we can ask for with our injuries. Bailey is well Josh Bailey. I can’t believe we have him for another year. What a horrible (frank)ing contract |

To be clear...I don't expect it to happen, but the idea of buying him out in June isn't the worst. It would save them $2.33M next year and cost them $1.66M the following year. By the time the cap savings becomes negative the cap will have almost certainly taken that big jump everyone is waiting for.
I don't think Lou would give the longest-tenured Islander such an unceremonious ending but something's gotta give eventually. |

If push comes to shove and he has to do it he will. He’s certainly loyal to his players but throughout his career he has made some pretty brash decisions. Some can argue whether they were beneficial to whatever team he was the GM for at the time. The bottom line is it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if he did it if he needed to clear space. I would say being able to clear space has been arguably his biggest challenge since becoming our GM. At least that I can decipher with the little info all of us have. |

Mayfield with his patented Bryan McCabe can opener. I thought we might make it a night without seeing his toothless surprise at being called for a penalty. - keaner17

Would not have minded Casey or Leo switching spots during the Tampa series.

Have to think some team would trade for him this offseason with only a year left on his deal?

No I don’t think have to think that’ll happen even at his reduced rate of 3.5 million |

Not being able to sign a top FA has been a long time problem for all the Islanders. Still do not know how Lou did not even speak to JG this offseason?

I hated Leo on Barzal’s wing just as much as anyone else. With that said I think it’s at the point you may want to talk to somebody about this |

Would be very bad if they still could not move him. I would just keep him for the year instead of a buyout and bench him or play him 3rd or 4th line.

If he’s moved it’ll be part of a package which will hurt the value of whatever else we’re trading. |

I guess. That was such a bad look when JG broke the news he never heard from the Islanders.

I should have talked to Ledecky. It worked very well the first time.
For such a good coach, Barry could be darn frustrating with his lineup decisions and offensive gameplan.

Have to think Raty could play wing if needed? Barzal seems best as Center with his playmaking ability.

I still don't hate the idea of trying it out at some point. But I'm not sure Raty is going to be so good at center (right off the bat, anyway) that it would justify moving Barzal to the wing. I'd do it if they acquired someone like Horvat/O'Reilly/etc... though |

i would not mind Raty as 1RW with Barzal especially if Raty does have a good shot. Barzal can use that. I do not like the Islanders chances of signing or trading for an impact forward.

I don't think any of us would mind it, but Lou and the coaching staff seem like they want to develop Raty as a center. Stinks in the short term but given the lack of organizational depth at center it's probably smart for the future. |

Honestly, Casey is taking many FO's and also if you watch Him and Barzal in the D zone and Casey is taking the draw then Barzal ultimately takes on the wingers responsibilities. They are playing very well together and typically a veteran counterman has an easy time playing the wing than visa versa. Nice to have 2 centers out there being able to take the FO on their strong side.

I'm thinking Raty staying as C for the rest of the year is a long shot? Casey and Barzal has been a nice fit so far.
