I agree with most of what you have to say, but in the arab world throwing your shoes at someone is the ultimate insult. Even showing the soles of your feet is an insult. Its basically saying you're no better than the poop I walk on. Its about showing disgust. Yes the journalist was being unprofessional, but I liked it because Bush has done so much to cluster-(frank) everything, its a small measure of accountability. He deserves impeachment, but all he'll get is a shoe thrown at him and a roasting from mediocre comedians.

I realize the insult made towards Bush... My comment was mostly based on the question of 'why buy that particular shoe?'.
Is the insult not having a shoe tossed at him rather than the actual shoe? People who would buy and wear the shoe merely because of that, and not the comfort and style, are just dwelling on the hate they have.
I also find it sad that people detest Bush and the Republican Party claiming that the party is not tolerant of the beliefs of others... Yet these same people will not allow the opposition party to have their beliefs without being hated for it by them.
I find my country being slapped in the face, and my fellow citizens enjoying it because it was directed at an unpopular president... I would feel exactly the same no matter the US envoy or leader. But, hey, that's just me.
