The issues in coverage and play anticipation still exist. The Flyers play a passive low zone collapse around the net defensively. Rather than a man to man coverage where a defender is more likely to roam.

I dislike man2man coverages in your own zone. We saw what this looked like under AV and Yeo and IMO it was a complete disaster; defenseman following players all the way up to their own blue line at times, blown net-front coverages, overloading on one side, etc. I like the coverage system Tort's employs much, much more, with an emphasis of stopping plays, filling passing and shooting lanes and keeping pucks to the outside.

Which PO teams are looking for "slow", "east-west" players who "turn the puck over" for their bottom-six tho?

Why does Tortorella like Provorov, DeAngelo and Farabee then? They all turn the puck over more than Hayes does.

Hayes is not a slow player and there are numerous players in the lineup who don't skate as well as Hayes does.

Deslauriers, Brown. Hayes is an equal skater to Farabee, Konecny and Cates. Hayes is not a slow skater.

Tortotrella's defensive system is not effective. It is archaic. There are many top teams that play man to man coverage.

Dylan Larkin is only 26 years old? I have to believe a few of those guys will be deadline rentals. A few retirements.

I will restate my original statement from weeks ago. Hayes is likely a flyer next year. Especially after checking his contract. He's owed 6.5 in salary and then 4/4 in the remaining two years. He isn't cheap. To be fair, he's still a NHL player. Teams don't totally tank and ONLY play prospects/young players. They fill out around NHL players. I think it's better to keep him and move him in 2024 summer.

Not sure about Brown, but I think Deslauriers is a faster skater than Hayes. Hayes is not close to TK, maybe equal to Farabee and Cates.
