Darth Kane
Your guess C Caufield 40 goals
He is ahead of the pace for 40; stay healthy and the team remains competitive, he could get near 50!
Question: if Montreal asked for our #2 '23 for Drouin, would you pass
Maybe #2 '24 I think about it

Unsure how far Drouin has fallen. Your response answers that |

If SB is GM, yes he would make that trade. Not a chance now. |

Kirby Dach on pace for 11 - LAHawk
Has anyone been watching any/many MTL games? I've not. but I'm curious about Slafkovsky. Is he not as advertised? Realizing that he's not bigger than everyone else now? Just the growing pains of an 18 yr old?
I realize that Shane Wright was not a slam dunk player either, but maybe I just got caught up in the hype Slaf was getting in the lead up to the draft. |

At this rate i wonder if this Blackhawks team will hit 40 points for the season. |

Fields cant pass gas. Another qb bust for bears - LFS
Ehhh, i think he was concussed after he was hit in the head. Kind of a deer in the headlight anytime he dropped back to pass from that point on.
Starting RG hurt early, backup starting RT hurt early, Claypool played i think 4 snaps, so no receivers to throw to again? Don't know which is worse the Blackhawks or the Bears? Blackhawks because they don't have a possible franchise player on the team, Justin just might be. |

Lebrun had an interesting article yesterday. Basically he said after Bedard's masterful performance the other day, teams will enter tank mode and begin selling off key parts earlier to get worse faster. The problem is the buyers need to wait closer to the TDL to accrue some more cap space.
LA and Buffalo among other teams looking for D help. Wouldn't mind McCabe going West and Murphy going East in the next couple of months if the return is good. Murphy would be a good long term fit in Buffalo and they can afford his contract going forward. McCabe seems to want out and to play for a contender. Both BUF and LA have plenty to offer in return. |

Montreal has become a dumpster fire after a decent start. They're playing 4 or 5 young D due to injuries to Edmunson, Savard and Matheson and they're getting pummeled. Have to wonder how that's affecting their psyche.
Monohan was a decent 2C until he got hurt. Now opposing teams can focus on stopping the Suzuki-Caufiled-Dach line. Also they have a bunch of overpaid, under performing veteran forwards - Hoffman, Dadanov, Dvorak, Gallagher, Drouin, Anderson and Armia
I think your comments on Slafkovsky are right on. He's no longer the biggest kid on the block and isn't getting much help by playing on a poor team.

Really? If teams are just realizing now that Bedard is the goods, they should fire their entire scouting staff. It sounds like LeBrun was running out of article topics.
I completely agree with your thinking on the D-men. |

Thanks Boiler. I was wondering how they were getting it done at the beginning and why they fell off.
It's kind of funny. If you look at both lineups, the forward groups (when completely healthy) don't look utterly miserable. Sure, they won't blow you away, but they are not completely devoid of talent. I think (at least in these instances) it shows how fundamentally important it is to have competent D-men who know where to go with the puck and can actually do it. |

LA specifically needs a left handed D, They have right D playing left, but you are right, that would hopefully be a landing spot for Mc Cabe.

This is just what Bettman wants. He will get wind of this (teams purposely tanking) and he will change the rules for the draft lottery. So if Chicago is the worst team, there will be an excuse to change the lottery formula......kind of like he did for the Crosby lottery: come up with some strange formula based on last 15 years of finish.

Took our son to his 1st ever game....
1. UC music is way too damn loud. I am not an old man but it was too loud for me.
2. game atmosphere is like a minor league game. 2 hosts trying tricks to make it friendly, etc which you would see for the Cougars. Just a real culture shock vs what it used to be...I get it...get kids excited, parents will take them, etc.....but still.....
3. it's time for Davidson to have his sit down with 19/88. Look I love them both but 19s effort last night was at BEST questionable. Just floating around, losing battles, passing to nobody....19 himself completely f'd up their shot to cut it to 1 on the PP late by losing a 75-25 battle in his favor......he's not into it anymore...and I get it, but just ask him....how can he lead when on video he's one of the glaring weaknesses?
I also wonder if Hawks D men are taught to leave their skates to cut off cross zone passes. See it way too many times and Murphy again last night for no reason did it which cost them a goal. Also never realized how SLOW Seth Jones is.....skates like he's just got off the squat rack.
Very tough watch in person and without 88.....they may not score a goal for a long period of games. |

Fantilli IMO hasn't had that good of a tourney so Bedard is really separating himself as the top prospect. Not that he wasn't before, but teams realize he is head and shoulders above the rest and will make a more concerted effort to reach the bottom.

Saw him leave the ice on a shift change. He just slowly coasted the last 30 feet or so to the bench. I think he has checked out too.

It was very frustrating to watch live....i told our son to watch 19 as he's starting to understand hockey.....wanted him to watch guys who didn't take plays off, etc.....boy did that backfire.....
I get it...losing night after night, shift after shift sucks....but you are also making millions, experienced years of long term success...and are the face of the franchise. If a younger on this team put forth that effort this board would ROAST him.
it's time for Johnny to ask out and go chase another cup or go retire and grow plants in his condo. He just can't continue to be the captain of this team and put forth efforts like last night for younger guys looking for an example to follow...because what all 18K+ of us saw was not IT. I also heard Murray postgame make a backhanded comment about certain guys who can raise their game that need to..... |

He is no doubt. But I wouldn´t jump to the conclusions based on U20 tourney. Jonathan Toews played with Canada in his draft year and had 0+2 points there. Adam Fantilli is still great prospect but there is no one close to Bedard atm. Leo Carlsson and Adam Fantilli are probably next wave. Only Michkov is close as a talent what Bedard is but the situation in Russia etc are probably going to drop him from being top 3 pick.

Doubt if you could get (or want) Byfield or Turcotte even if they have had underwhelming starts to their careers. Maybe a 2nd/3rd round pick and a F prospect that fits KD's need for speed and high motor. Higher pick if Hawks retain 2M on McCabe. (Assuming Kane and Toews don't waive and Hawks have retention slots to use.)
