What comes back in McCabe to LA? - Scott1977
Hopefully a second, although in order for that to work would have to be at the deadline, as the Kings have very little cap space |

It depends on how close they are to the salary floor if/when the trade happens, wherever he would end up going. |

Fantilli IMO hasn't had that good of a tourney so Bedard is really separating himself as the top prospect. Not that he wasn't before, but teams realize he is head and shoulders above the rest and will make a more concerted effort to reach the bottom. - boilermaker100
If you went by World Jrs, both Carlsson and Dvorsky have looked better than Fantilli.
Maybe because Canada is stacked, but wonder if it won't shake up top of draft.

From what I've read, scouts don't put a whole lot of stock into the performances in these tournaments. It is obviously taken into consideration, but most of the evaluation comes from play in their respective leagues (as it should).
I can't imagine that there would be much rearranging based on the tournament unless maybe two players are viewed as identical otherwise. |

Reichel and Seney called up. Entwistle and Khaira to IR. - boilermaker100
Considering Richardson said they didn't want to bring up Reichel (or any skill player) if there was only 4th line spots open, I would guess that either Johnson or Kane (or both) are expected to be out for at least a game or two. |

Showcasing Reichel for a trade, right DK? |

He is no doubt. But I wouldn´t jump to the conclusions based on U20 tourney. Jonathan Toews played with Canada in his draft year and had 0+2 points there. Adam Fantilli is still great prospect but there is no one close to Bedard atm. Leo Carlsson and Adam Fantilli are probably next wave. Only Michkov is close as a talent what Bedard is but the situation in Russia etc are probably going to drop him from being top 3 pick. - MjulQvist
I'd feel better about Bedard if he demonstrated more ability and/or willingness to work give and go's. I haven't seen him much so there's that, but I don't think he is going to be able to walk guy's in the show like he does the guys in juniors.

13 assists to go with 8 goals in five games. Seems he is doing plenty of passing and not trying to walk everyone. As for give and goes I’m sure if the opportunity presents themselves, he can do that too. I’m more concerned about a few of the high risk plays he’s been burned on. |

All NHL types agree that they have never seen a 17 yr old, ever, with a shot like Bedard's. Most agree his shot would be elite level in the NHL today.
With a weapon like that you want him shooting. But I have noticed as the tournament goes on he's passing more and more. Most are not surprised at Bedard's elite showing at the WJC but many, even scouts/NHL types, did not know he had the elite vision/passing he's showing at this best on best tournament.
Now some are talking about the kid in McD terms because of what appears to be crazy vision passing to go along with an other worldy shot.
USA vs Canada!! .... Would not surprise me if the US can't hang with a 17 yr old goalie vs a stacked Canadian group but that's fine as this is what a North American jrs fan lives for. Best on best, USA vs Canada.
Like my hero Al Bundy says, "Lets Rock".

2-zip, America!! Faster to pucks, more possession, at 5 on 5 Bedard's name is called once. 8:00 to go and the 2nd time his name is called he scores beating the Steel's Ufko to the back post....... 2-1, America.
All US until the Bedard goal. Gettin jiggy now, big hit by Fantilli. |

First time in the tournament where Fantilli looks dominant.
The US play a faster game. Not just player speed but moving the puck faster, quicker passes, and as you say quicker on loose pucks. |

All US until the Bedard goal then Canada got their legs and mojo going. Fantilli is a big boy, can skate and loves to hit. ...... Amazing how the US neutralized Bedard by just having possession and zone time but that can't last forever as we saw. Just limiting his chances is a win though.
As good a game so far as can been hoped for.

As you know from watching lots of junior games, you can overlook the number of mistakes because of the high energy these kids play with |

In case you were wondering, yes, Jackson Blake played 2 yrs for The Mighty Steel.... 3-3. Oh yea, same for Fantilli!!
Check that, goalie interference. 3-2, Canada. |

Not sure a Swedish ref is a homer for either team? I’d like to see the call again but I thought it could be called either way from the replays I saw. |

Right on.... The most prescient comment I've ever read about the sport was the scout who said, "the WJC is the last chance you'll get to watch world's best on best before they move up and get the wild horse gets coached out of them"!

I have to admit I'm rooting for Canada due to the Hawks prospects on the team... Korchinski, Allan, Del Mastro, Bedard.
New blog up by the way. |
