If the same management team is in place they'll sign an aging vet to a ridiculous contract. - Scoob
Even with improvement, this organization needs to realize that they are years away and act accordingly. If they don't, getting a couple of high draft picks won't matter enough. There are many different paths to success and not all paths taken can reach the pinnacle. The current path they're taking with Tortorella. Will not get them there.

Is he on the powerplay because the Flyers have no other options? Would that still be true if Cam and SC were healthy?
I think Yes to the first and maybe to the second? - mickel25
Behind Hayes is Cates and then nobody. So no other options basically.
As much as Torts loves to (frank) around w/ lines at ES, he's doesn't mess around w/ the PP. He knows his team needs to score on the PP to win most nights so he's putting all the "top" guys out there as much as possible.

That is the way I see it too. I am fine with him pushing Hayes to be consistent in terms of focus or effort or whatever we are calling it these days.

He also is an all star at negotiating contracts. I wonder if it had to do with him being an ex player. I had heard Yzerman was good at the "one good pair of shoes" speech. Essentially, how much money do you really need? Enough to buy one good car, one good pair of jeans and shoes. That multiple cars don't make you happier. - Aaron_85

Some chatter LA might be interested interested In Provorov….what’s it take to get Byfield from them? - Wingdestroyer
Not sure LA would want to give up on Byfield just yet and it seems he's been getting more minutes lately. They'd probably be more willing to give up Turcotte though

If Provorov gets traded, the return better be the beginning of turning us around. It seems like the fanbase wants a kid under 26 years of age who has played 25 minutes a game and has been facing off against Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby his entire career, so Cam York and Travis Sanheim can take over. Alright, I hope it works out for us. I’ve already watched John Tavares jump over Sanheim and score a goal on us once this season.

i'm not sure it would count as "giving up" on him....Even if he isn't a number 1 dman Provorov has a lot of value. I know the Kings still really like Byfield, I'm just curious what it might look like.

Take a wild swing at it. I don't think it would be easily done by any team. My guess is LA thinks he's an heir apparent to Kopitar for top center position in a few years so it would likely cost way too much from any team.
My GUESS is something similar to Schenn when he was traded from the Kings to the Flyers. I don't know if the Flyers have a player similar to Mike Richards trade value at the time. I honestly don't know.

I agree it’s a head scratcher….the only players the Flyers would have to get it done would be Konecny, Provorov, and Hart.

*to start the convo to get it done - Wingdestroyer
I thought about Hart being in the conversation but I still value the Center position higher. I suppose it depends how close LA thinks they are to winning again.

We should all just love this team. - FlyerFan3260
The team has been a boring, declining loser for a while now, yet we're still tuning in and complaining about it everyday. It's as close as you get to true marital-grade love without having the "I don't know, what do you want for dinner?" argument.
I know Biz is buddies w/ Hayes, so he's stickinging up for his boy, but some of the stuff he says about the way Torts handles his players lands squarely. - Tomahawk
