You went further and suggested the Sabres wouldn't keep 3, because it was unorthodox.

I felt the decision wasn't usual, traditional or accepted.

Timmins might have been a good move. But he's always a slight breeze away from LTIR so I understand why they didn't pursue that.

Even just claiming one of the several players on defense that were put on waivers when they were bleeding d-men during that 8 game losing streak.

Waive them if they are no longer useful once healthy and I assume they get claimed by their original team.

Carrying 3 goalies is absolutely unorthodox.

You would have been correct on both parts of your post, if the unorthodox(ness) led to keeping just 2 goalies.

But, here we are, starting 3 different guys in 4 nights.
