There are 3-4 players I wouldn't trade for Ilya Sorokin or probably Igor Shesterkin. TT, DC/OP, RD. I could maybe be convinced to trade DC/OP. - TheSabresTaco
If you think good D men just suddenly suck one day out of nowhere, oh boy do I got some news about some goaltenders |

Figured I'd stay with one point at a time.
Objectively Asplund was an extremely valuable defensive forward. However his competition was average.
It would be subjective of me to determine whether or not he deserved the one vote. Considering the size of the voting pool, sure, give him the vote. He didn't deserve to win because of the argument above.
Usually those Selke votes go to best two way player and Asplunds offense was bad. - TheSabresTaco
What about expected awesome Jesse Puljujarvi? Remember the war I had with some fool last season about how bad this guy was? It resulted in a bet. Looking at his 9 points so far this season, I guess I won that one going away. |

He's kind of like an Asplund. It's too bad because he should be like a Cozens

Are you laughing at me because I chose to throw him an irrelevant vote? I explained my position that he shouldn't ever win it.

I see why but I disagree. I think Krebs becomes 5x the player Poolparty is.
I'd ponder Olofsson for Party Plus

Not sure I actually would either, but Krebs clock is ticking for him to become some sort of difference maker or becoming another Asplund.
There’s no offense there. Like none |

I think it comes down to linemates, deployment and development for him.
Granato is clearly trying to build his defensive game and he's still developing his physical strength. We've seen his flashes of brilliance in the passing game. I think we're all just going to have to get comfortable with him playing the long game to success. I think it says a lot about him that he's adapted and well to the role he's playing this year.
He's actually positive impact overall.

How does one go from vezina trophy consideration, to hoping the nachos line has jalapenos?

Thanks for warming taco up paul. Nice work this morning 👍
Olofsson 40 games 16 goals 6 assists.
Pool boy 43 games 3 goals 6 assists
Points aren't everything comparison?
From 2 guys that are points guys?
Makes 0 sense |

It's too bad Asplund is a nothing this year. They could use a good Asplund with Krebs and Mitts. |

The Jost line had a great game last night. I wouldn't swap pool with olo straight up, but it would be interesting to see what a player like pool would bring to that line. Frankly I think we should be shooting higher. I think most NHL teams would agree considering he's still in edm. |

Pool boy and olofsson is a very reasonable point comparison arguement.

Looking a little deeper at the numbers I already posted, is it any surprise to any of us Craig Anderson accounts for 9 and a 1/2 of our 19 good starts, even though he’s only started 14 games himself (relief of injured Comrie against Ottawa)?
Good goalies make a difference. Shame Andy isn't 10 years younger. We'd be talking about who we want to match against in the playoffs instead of how to fix the roster again. |

Adding a 3 goal (goalscorer) will make a world of difference.
We would be 7 points up, looking down on Tampa. |

Look at these great prospects we have mentioned in this blog the last 3+ days.
Laf
Byfield
Pool Party.
Vilardi (it seems he might be figuring it out)
Etc.
It’s why I have been concerned since day one about all eggs in the draft only basket.
Prospects turn into suspects very quickly. Those guys above all had a higher draft pedigree than most of the Sabres current picks.
The expectations fans set for these players are insanely high and the word untouchable is thrown around often.
Many of these beloved prospects will fail to fully pan out, or we are talking 4-5 years before they do, it’s what happens.
Identify the ones they want trade a couple of the others for established players, while their value is still at its highest.

Hes Asplund right now. 9 points in 34 games. 3 freaking goals
Our 4th line center.
He will be 22 in a week. Not 20 or 19 like Quinn and JJ.
I just am very thankful Alex Tuch is as good as he is |

Yeah i've seen enough of Krebs, he was so bad last night.
Enter the zone with puck down the half wall
Shoot it around boards to opposite defenseman..... every fvcking time down the ice.

when a waiver pickup, jost, outperforms your centerpiece in trading eichel, you have problems |

He wasn't horrible last night, but he wasn't good enough either. Good goalies stop screened shots and deflections every night in the NHL... except ours. For a 6'5" goalie, UPL watches goals go above his shoulder so much it's frightening. He goes down way before the shot happens all the time. - lacaprup
LOL UPL has no chance on those goals and he is being blamed.
Hilarious. I don’t love UPL yet and I even understand that he isn’t to blame
Now you are being bias |
